^^^ Nice bike...i have the same one...same size too :thumb: My favorite bike to ride...1 size bigger would be better, but its comfortable this way

Here's what i started with...the paint was shot, chips and rust everywhere, and those are actually white hoods underneath the MOLD!! YUCK!!

I used steel wool on the cassette

Beautiful bike Andy, it cleaned up really well! I recently cleaned up a set of white 105 hoods that weren't quite as nasty as yours, but they were really sticky and I thought they'd need to be replaced. I used Goo Gone and they came out great, and the stickiness is gone too!

Did you replace your hoods, or were you able to clean them up?

I know mine is not an 80's Schwinn, but it looks like we were going for the same theme.

Great read and pics on your website... I surely hope you don't part it out, that is a bike that deserves to stay together IMO...if it doesnt fit you, i am sure you could get a fair price for it here on C&V... and it would probably go to someone who could appreciate it.

I too prefer a 58, but the 56 is fine with a taller stem/seatpost...you might want to give that a try. NICE BIKE!!

I upgraded some since my last post on this....Ritchey zero wheel set 700c stock brake work just had to lower the pads a tad. Stock front and rear derailluer adjust to reach the 25t rear cog. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=192298http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=192299http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=192300

^^^ Absolutely love what you have done so far !!! Great Job!!! I now see why you wanted to swap out for the 700c wheels so much... (really makes the bike look much racier!) really like the grey and red scheme...keep up the good work :thumb:

My 87 Le Tour. Bought it on craigslist. It was in bad shape...ugly glittery white with lots of rust. Cleaned it up and had it powder coated. Has 700c wheels with 9 speed Tiagra group.

^^^ Lookin' Good!!

1987 Schwinn Circuit

Here's my 1987 Circuit I bought off ebay for $365 (325, minus shipping). It's two pounds over the advertised 21 lb, but it's still very nice, and the geometry and ride are great. Read about it at my page on velospace, http://velospace.org/node/34261

89 world sport :) she looks nice but rides kinda rough imo

Fast Cloud 04-20-11 06:57 AM

A good set of tires would smooth that ride out quite a bit...Just like on a car. That's a nice clean one in a good color. Congrats.

i'm sure the hi-ten stays and fork don't help either

in real life the color is much more green.. not sure why but it's hard to get a picture of it to look like it does in person

Kobe 04-20-11 07:27 AM

I hate it when this thread is updated, I always get the urge to get a Circuit\Premis|Prelude.

Funny you should say that. My 88 World Sport is super comfy compared to my Circuit and Tempo and I used to say that it was because of the "softer" hi-ten stays and fork! To be honest it's probably because I run wider tires at lower pressure. :innocent:
