New guy + Just bought my first bike!
Whats up guys, so I've been lurking around these forums for about a month or so.. and since I just bought my first road bike 2 days ago I figured I would share. Thanks to all the info on here I was confidant in knowing what to look for and what to avoid. The result: I snagged this beauty off craigslist for $275.
Correct me if I'm wrong w/ the terminology.. Still pretty new to it all.
1980's Faggin Road bike 55cm. Beautiful lugged Frame, Columbus tubing, Gipiemme dropouts
All Shimano 600 components
Sunrim wheels w/ Competition hubs
Shimano SPD m959 pedals
Cinelli stem + Mavic Bars
and a Lame-ass-Saddle.
I'm planning on swapping out the wheels and saddle for a classier look in the future but right now, it gets me around.

Very nice find and for a very good price. Since you are new to the vintage bicycle interest, allow me to invite you to a website designed with you in mind - MY "TEN SPEEDS".
Good luck with your Faggin and lets see how it cleans up. That surface rust on the forks will come right off by rubbing it with aluminum foil, believe it or not. Test the idea on a hard to see place to build your confidence.

Is it a fixed gear or a singlespeed? Looks like a fixed gear rear hub.
Either way, that's a decent deal. The frame looks to be in great condition, and the chrome on the fork will clean up really nicely with some Turtle Wax Chrome polish. Nicely done. Have fun on it.

Single speed, Don't think I can handle a fixed gear. The fork actually looks much worse on the front part. I'm hopping its just surface rust though. EDIT: just noticed its a 56cm - stamped on the BB.

Nice first bike! Mine wasn't anywhere near as nice and I didn't pay all that much less. I've been scouring ebay for saddles recently and if you're looking for a replacement something like a black/copper Selle Regal might look nice the darker colours seem to go cheaper than white.
Something along these lines maybe?
(not my auction)

In any case, good score.
