What's wrong with this picture?
 

One of the oddest CL ads I've seen in some time...did Centurion make a "funny" bike like this, or is it just the wrong wheel in front? What on Earth is that crank? The combination of 24inch front wheel and that stem, with the seatpost low, is just mind bending...or is there something I don't understand?

Im selling a Dave Scott Centurion road bike, most likely from the 80's. This one is a Salmon color with a few small upgrades from the original parts. I put some blue platform pedals on it as you can see in the pic but I still have the original shimano pedals if you want to be picky about it being OG. This standover on this guy is probably between 32 and 35 cm but im not positive. Its small, i know that much. I think this would fit someone about 5 foot to 5 foot 3. This particular model is extra special because it has a a 24 inch front tire, which makes it extra rare, I think. It rides pretty good but im sure it could use a tune up. If your into bikes you probably know what this is, but if youre not and youre just short and need a bike to fit you should check this out. I will gladly ride it to your house if youre interested, or you can pick it up. You should totally buy this bike because its cool. Its just a little too small for me and my girlfriend wants me to make room in the apartment. Wah Wah.

It's a Terry style of bike for small folk. They come with 24" front wheels

They did for shorter riders. The cranks stock just has BMX pedals.

Got it...the angle made it look like the crank was blue. I know about terry bikes, I just didn't know centurion made one...and the way this one is set up just looks weird.

Well........ um........ that's a different set up........ i've heard of 700 and 650 setups.... but.................. interesting.

Generic Terry set-up. There is a centurion funny bike on ebay currently though. It's a Turbo...

The $300 is about right if it's in good shape. The 700/520 wheel setup was used by Georgena Terry, and licensed to at least a dozen builders.

There is a thread here somewhere on them.

The most prevalent seems to be the salmon/white Ironman Expert,
made famous here by the gracious East Hill, probably the most gracious member of C&V.

+1 Pretty decent deal for a Terry styled bike. Several copies out there: Nishiki, Miyata, and others.

Tom had one @ T-town in the fall. Zaph looked rather funny riding it around the track

For a while there was one for sale on my CL from the same guy who sold me my Panasonic. It was either a Shogun or a Panasonic (escapes me now). Very odd looking in person. Not my thing.

Sure looks odd, not to mention the hassle of two types of spare tubes.

A friend of mine had a Bianchi one.

I've always wanted one of those.
my only worry are the choices of rims and tires for 24" front wheel.

The 520 rims that came on those bikes were just smaller versions of the 700c rear.
However, none of those are produced now, that I know of.

To get a really light road wheel like the bike had OEM, you'd have to go find one used.
The current ones available new may fit, but they are not Wolber Super Champions, etc.

Likewise, with the front tires, but not as big a discrepancy.
There are a couple vendors supplying 520 tires in narrow road widths,
maybe not ProRace3's, but good enough to go fast with.

I was at an Olympic distance triathlon last summer, and two women were on those Terry-designed bikes.
The mother was 62 and she had the "newer one," as her 42-year old daughter rode the "older" one.
I just had to ask about a granddaughter, and sure enough, a 19-year old came by. CF Trek, 48cm.
i asked her if she wanted a bike like the others? She said no, she didn't want an old steel bike.
We all just laughed, because I was walking a steel Ironman bike.
I told her, well, when she got old enough, her mom would tell her the secret...

I'm fairly sure I know the seller and could fascilitate this fairly easily if anyone is interested. I'm sure I could get beneficial pricing, and I have an excellent shipping source.

Aside from the partially inflated threadbare tires it rode surprisingly like a normal bike.
