Look I Un-Drewed a Frame

This Trek 2200 had a bursted derailleur hanger. With lot of elbow grease I un-drewed it with a Cannondale replaceable hanger.

Yeah I know...I have too much time in my hand.

Cool. What was the downfall of the original hanger?

Be careful; very little metal between the two back holes. Did you weld or epoxy the derailleur tab on as well?

Great and cheap way of saving a decent frame.

It should be fine because the replaceable hanger sees very little stress. The the load from the rider and the rear wheel is still supported by the dropouts. I dont want to use JBweld because I want to keep the hanger replaceable.

It's filed down to match the width of the replaceable hanger?

Yes I filed both sides of the drop out to match the width of hanger. It is not perfect but it should work. I will post picture of the other side later. I wish I have a milling machine though.

There was one in the framebuilder forum recently that took every ounce of my self-control to not torpedo.

Here are a few more shots of the hanger at different angles.

The frame is pretty chunky.
