I'm off to commit a few heinous robberies. A Herse in my size! In the perfect colour!

Could be a Japanese bidder... or anyone. Indeed, beautiful frame. Love all that internal cable routing.

Yes. The color is fantastic. Not quite my size, but I'd make do.

Somebody please educate me. Are those internal cable runs a continuous piece of tubing soldered into the frame? I'm wondering how you thread the cable through them if there is none to start with.

That bike is a work of art - but the freewheel could use a little cleaning.

Russian?

Beautiful machine. The dirt and grime must be vintage.

A lot of the vintage parts I list on eBay for U.S. bidders only end up in Japan anyway via a proxy buyer in California. https://www.sekaimon.com/

FWIW, I'm waiting for this Herse auction to end before I list mine.

Now THAT is the Herse I'd be looking for if I could afford it.

So wealthy Japanese with an affinity for French (and other classic) bikes and components stopped collecting? I don't think so. I've shipped several bits to Japan recently because that's where the highest bids came from.

Yeah, that is a beauty. I like the blue color more but your red one is stunning Gridplan, with the proper chain set and stem, etc. And, it looks as though is has the hand-lettered graphics as opposed to stickers. Did R. Herse ever use stickers/decals? I suppose so.

That's a beautiful bike and all, but since I just ordered some new spokes, an extra $6000 would put me over this month's bike budget. - So I'll have to let one of you guys win it.

Believe it or not, sometimes you can just start a piece of string with a small knot in the leading end. Block all exits, except the one you want the string to come out of and then blow compressed air into the entry hole. Woosh - the string (sometimes) comes out of the exit hole. Next, just attach the cable to the string and pull it through.

You think this is a problem? Try getting a cable through 600 feet of piping, like I used to do, when working as a Millwright at a local paper mill.

Glad I am retired.

Yes. I have a couple of bikes with internal cable routing and there is a thin tube within the frame tube.

Some builders use internal cables and some don't. I've heard tell you must use a magnet to draw the cable on those that don't have internal cable runs, though I'd like to see an action-shot of that IOT confirm

Interesting frame - some details are exquisite while others (the RD cable exit, for example) are less so. Until today, I didn't know Herse made any frames other than tourers. Nice color, too; very similar to my Somec's shade.

And wow, with lug thinning (especially the headlugs) like that, I would never, ever repaint this frame today. If a certain restoration house were to try their hand, I would bet you wouldn't even be able to make out the lug points after they were done...

Thanks for posting - a very cool frame in many respects.

Exactly. I've had several shipping inquires from Japan for my auctions of French parts.

For $6000 I'd expect a clean bike. That's travesty.

Very nice, I especially like the color. Still, I don't think it's as awesome as my JRJ frame...
