Problem with Peugeot PH-10 1981 crankset

Hi, I'm trying to rebuild my Peugeot PH-10 bought in 1981, but it could be from another year, the label sticked in the lower of the frame marks, the serial: 1499946 and below that the model: PH 10 57. Here you can see the crank, the inside is threaded, so I think I would need some crank extractor that fits in the thread. Could you know which kind of extractor tool would I need? Case I couldn't find another crank, I would need to replace at least the pedals, but modern pedals don't fit in this crank, could I retap the thread? could I do the job myself? what kind of retapping tool would I need? Really many thanks for any help.

Sorry, silly mistake: the thread I guess it's for the screw shown in the image above of the crankset, so I don't know if there is any additional tool needed to remove the crank, or it doesn't loose for any other reason.

For that crankset you need just a standard crank extractor. As for pedals not fitting i expect you need french threaded pedals for it. I think you can retap french thread to standard thread but whether you can do it yourself depends on whether you know how to retap threads and only you can answer that.

Hi again and thanks, I've finally received the crankset extractor tool, but I didn't realize that I now need another tool for extracting the bottom bracket. There is an image of the bb, chainrings side above, I haven't seen any tool in ParkTools for this kind of lockring, it seems to have four holes for applying the tool, if anyone knows which kind of tool if would be, I would be very thankful. I don't know, if I can not extract the bb, if there are any cranksets available for it, I guess any cranksets for square taper would do, but I'm not sure. Regarding the retapping, I asked only if it would be something easy to do, or it would require any special knowledge, as it seems. Really many thanks.

This tool would be apparently good for the chainrings side, but I guess it's the another side which is to been removed before:

Use the single-toothed end of the Park HCW5 tool. And use some PB Blaster on it to assist.

What crank you need to use depends on your BB taper - If it is an ISO taper, a Japanese crank will slide in too far and possibly grind on your right chain-stay. If it's a Japanese BB, and you try an ISO taper crank, it will sit outboard and possibly mess up your chainline.

You can skirt both these issues by substituting a longer/shorter bb spindle.

PS- If you choose to tap it, I would just take it to the LBS because the right & left handed 9/16 x 20 TPI taps will cost you more than it's worth.

I would be surprised though if your crank was French threaded. Check the pedals - French pedals are marked G & D instead of L& R, respectively.
