seat post choices

Im thinking i want to try a non set back seat post for my old bianchi sport. I switched over to the Specialized Romin saddle and found that i have to have it all the way foward in the clamps of my current fluted SR Laprade(?) post.

My current post has a clamp that is a bit behind the mast of the post.

I also noticed (at least in the trainer) that my knee was no longer over the pedal axel.

I have not had the chance to check it out on the road due to the constant 15 inches of snow we continually recieve :)

Im wondering if they make a no set back post for the older posts (26.2 I think).

Kalloy, $20-$25 depending on source. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=191037

Thomson, tune come in modern variety without setback. Or go 1920's style and mount your Laprade backwards :)

What is the deal with the SUGINO Mighty post?

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=191071

can that center pin move into either of the 2 holes making it no set back or really set back? In other words...is it adjustable?

Looks interesting.

The center pin does not move.

......and the fore and aft holes house cam nuts (is that what they're called?) into which the bolts thread.

hmm..i dont get it. Id probably have to see one up close i guess. SO in the end.....the set back at the center hole is what you are stuck with....

Yes.

well i did find out today that i do indeed have a 26.6 in the bike currently. Time to start hunting....

This Romin saddle sure is strange. I cant believe it mounts this far forward. The old saddle i had mounted almost dead center from what i recall and that put my knee right over the pedal axle...

Thomson are rare in this size. I see lots of 26.8 but no 26.6.....at least used. I can get one for 90+ new. Looks like it might have to be Kalloy as T-Mar stated. Some of the reviews of this post are scary but i guess you get what you pay for. I just want somthing that fits ;) IM wondering if it just seems funny because im on a stationary trainer or if it truely needs to come forward a bit. I cant wait until it warms up :)
