T-Mar, thanks for your reply. I have some photos but can not seem to upload it here as the rule says I have to have at least 10 posts to upload URLs even though I was trying to upload JPEG files. Anyway, can I email you directly the photos if you don't mind. Thanks.

She had complete control over various models from start to production. My Axis is one of these.

Thinking that is pretty awesome!

Sounds like there would be a connection to Selene Yeager, "Fit Chick" @ Bicycling magazine and author of several books.

It’s Sky Yaeger’s decal for the models that she had total control over at Bianchi. Not heard of this other S. Yaeger.

She's a big deal in her own right, total bad a** on a bike and in the gym, lots of results with both.

So no relation, they spell their last names different.

I have a 1987 Super Leggera in yellow. Once I have reached 10 posts, I will put up a pic. I haven't put in as many miles as I should have, but it still rides beautifully after more than 30 years.

OK, so it's not yet my Bianchi, I did manage to score this sign today from an old (Cannondale) dealer of mine, perfect for my Bianchi corner in the office. Just next to my 100+ race credentials from my time with Saeco, Lampre, Barloworld and Liquigas!

In case you didn't see in the other thread, I've recently posted a bunch of Bianchi translations on my blog at Masini's Breaking Away Blog: Bianchi
Sorry for the blatant blog plug, but someone somewhere may find this useful or interesting!

ps - Yamaha PX-3 turntable, in case any of you audio karma or Turntable Talk followers are here! Best for my 70's prog, 80's rock, Italian pop and RPI!

Based on the decals and colour scheme it should be a 1990 model and Asian manufactured. The serial number will provide confirmation. 4th in a line of 6 road models. $775 US MSRP. Looks like it has replacements pedals, stem and possibly the saddle.

Thanks T-Mar! I've been told these were the "dark years" with the decals. Did they make all of the models in Japan or just certain ones? The brazing/lugs/tubing seem to feel different from the Italian made frames. Stiffer and heavier feeling (?) Cool they still had the Celeste color. Light rust around the lugs, 54cm is just a tad too large for me. Got it for a decent flip price.

The country or origin varied, depending on the model, year and market. In 1990, the top two models for the USA market were still coming from Italy but below that they were coming from Asia. Yours is probably from Japan but some of the lower ones were being sourced from Taiwan. Please post the serial number. TIA.

@spedrunr Seems like you have a Campione italia.

If the BB is Italian threading you most likely have an italian built bike.

Ok, I'm picking this up from Craigslist tomorrow morning and these are the only pics available.

Does the Red/White/Green band around the down tube by the shifter bosses mean indicate Made in Italy? Or is that common on Asian models?

Thanks again for your help.

It may indicate it but i wouldnt fully depend on that to verify italian or japanese.

I'm leaning towards 89' Campione d'Italia with a 70mm bottom bracket shell.

I don't see a serial number anywhere on the frame. Is it located inside the bottom bracket?

@spedrunr

It won't be inside, should be on the outside bottom of BB, flip it over, look close, if paint is thick or stamping light it may be hard to see.

Here's a pic of the bottom bracket, there is a 2 stamped in. Pretty simple serial number, I hope I don't forget it
