Team Fuji TT History

I recently acquired an older Team Fuji TT which seems to be in good shape and rides surprisingly smooth and stable compared to my P2C. The sloping frame was not an issue for me

I look forward to taking it out this weekend, but I was wondering if anyone knows of history of this bike.

From what the seller mentioned to me when he bought the bike, it only had frame, fork and front wheel, the remaining parts he put together to best of his knowledge.

The bike has 8-speeds, Dura Ace

Nope, can't see either link, and I'd love to see it.

And DA 8 speed, it was either upgraded or isn't the 87/88 models.

Looks like a nice little Lo-Pro.

You might want to bring the seat tube angle forward a bit, assuming you ride your P2C at 78 degrees, if you want to replicate your position on the Fuji. Nitto 66 seatposts do the job nicely.

Add some 8speed DA GripShifts and you're ready to rumble.

If i were you, I'd sell the P2C and start rocking some vintage steel at your races this season. Passing people on hugely expensive bikes on an old steel racer is hugely satisfying.

Awesome bike, Tugrul. Is it yours? Do you race it? I'd like to here the story behind it, if there is one.

question - i noticed that when I look at the bike from the rear, the disc wheel is not exactly in the center of the frame, it is a tad to the left. And the rear brake has been turned a bit to accommodate the offset of the wheel. it spins true and when i test rode it yesterday, i didnt seem to feel any issues. Not sure why the wheel is not centered in the frame?

And can put a modern Zipp 808 with 9-speed cassette on this bike? just to test it out? or does older frames have different wheel spacing?

funny looking bike. I would first check the axle to see if it is bent. (this is an I8 with a FW yes?) then check the dropout alignment screws, lastly the dish of the wheel. if it is a FW type wheel respaced to 8spd it may not be dished correctly.

Zoom2zoom, I think what is happening is that a 130mm hub has been put in the back, which was originally spaced at 126mm for a narrower 7-speed hub width, and this is throwing the wheel slightly off centre. No biggy.

If you whack your 808 in there I would imagine it would also be similarly off centre as the hub is also 130mm.

I am more than prepared to stand corrected on that though, those are just my suspicions, and check what Bianchigirl suggested too as she is infinitely more knowledgeable than me (as are most on this forum).

If you want to test out the Zipp though, swap in an 8 speed cassette if you have one (is the Hed disk a freehub or freewheel? You will be able to use that if it's a freehub) as the chain will be too wide for the cassette sprockets. Alternatively swap out the chain for a 9-speed one and switch the bar end shifters to friction mode, if they're not already.

Lovely, lovely bike, I really like it. Nice 'praying mantis' aero position too. Enjoy it.

But the wheel should be centered between the locknuts regardless of OLD, 130, 126, or 100. Are disc wheels different?

I stand corrected. Like I said, I wasn't sure. Thanks for the clarification.
