No, it’s not stuck, only if. I give you the SR Custom P-3.
I’ve become convinced that this seat post was either designed by Rube Goldberg, Beelzebub, or a POed JP designer bent on seeking retribution for WWII.
If it wasn’t for being the only 26.6 post I have, and being original to the bike, it would be melted down by now.
I must have blotted out the memory of how I got the seat off; because, for the life of me, I can’t get one back on.

If there are any seat post saints out there, you have never been needed more.

That looks like the same one that was on my brother's 1983 Schwinn Voyageur 11.8. If there's a nut on the opposite side, you have to remove it all and slot it back together with the seat rails going between the outer pieces and the bolt feeding through from the right.

I recall in was a PITA for us, too.

That's kinda brilliant, and I don't think you intended it. This post has 2 bolts, one going in from each side. To get the 2 nuts to thread in the very narrow space between the clamps is awkward just when your holding the post in your hands, let alone trying to 'pry' the saddle bars apart while your doing it because it is 'waay' wider then any modern rails. I hadn't thought about trying to put one bolt all the way through. Of course, these bolts have a square fitting on each. Nice idea, I think I'll try to work with that.

^ Well, the pic didn't do the bolt attachment justice, but your description above brought back the memory more clearly. Yes: ours did have two bolts coming from the right and left, with the nuts threading on in the limited space available in the middle. Definitely I didn't intend to offend - that's not DD's MO.

I recall for sure this dopey post now, and as I noted in my original post, it was a PITA. IIRC, we did one side at a time, getting the right side in alone, threading the nut on a little ways, then pulling the threaded bolt outwards so that we could put the left side in and get it's nut on. From then on it was a matter of dinking around with both nuts a turn or two on alternating sides until it was tight enough to then play with the fore/aft and tilt adjustments.

The bike with this post was sold over a year ago, so I didn't - and don't - have the benefit of a visual, but that's the way I remember it now. Gettin' old...

Didn't mean to sound sarcastic. On first blush, it sounded like a great solution trying to use a single bolt; until I realized that that wasn't possible.

I think you have the clamps reversed side-to-side and upside down. I've seen a couple like that, and they didn't look like what you have pictured. Unless I'm wrong which is ALWAYS a possibility.

Figured it out! I took these pics so that I might recall how I did it if I ever have the displeasure of dealing with one again.

AHA! I see I was wrong after all!

I kept thinking that too, except the inner clamps are permanently attached and you can see the slot on the post that allows adjustment of the saddle angle.

All is well now, this Lotus is going up for sale so it's the buyers problem. If the buyer does ask, I will refer them to this post.:thumb:

My Grand Jubilé came with that post and I fought with it every time I wanted to remove or change the saddle. For me, the length was marginal anyway, so more recently I've chucked it into the parts bin in favor of a 260mm-ish CLB Laprade aero style seatpost.
