I used to work in a shop that sold a lot of Peugeots and ended up with a fair amount of French gear but no French bikes ; I'm still looking for a PX-10, a UO-10, and my all time fav which I'll never find a VX40. My drillium stronglight 99 is currently on a Melton touring bike which I'm in the process of building up; I actually have a sealed english threaded stronglight BB that works perfectly with the crank, . Here are the pics:

Pulled that old Nervar 3-spoke cottered crank off my Raleigh GP the other day and installed this 3-spoke Stronglight instead.
My '74 Gitane Champion du Monde, with a "compact double". (The inner chainring is useless but I think it's diminutive size works well aesthetically on a small bike.)

49D from Grand Jubilee I parted, pedal spindle is stuck fast in left arm. I sold the chainrings on ebay ($6.87, good deal), and also the crank dust covers ($40.00 + $3 shipping, I did fall out of my chair). I had the crank and pedals, so I decided to use them on a project - chainwheel and cog on ebay $75. I still need a chain, and to rebuild the rear wheel with a fixed hub to complete, total investment so far (bike bought/parts sold/parts bought) = $0, so I might splurge on a Paul hub, any thoughts on that? I've had good luck with the Formula hubs, and although not as pretty as the Paul (which would really match the front Normandy/Schwinn hub), it is $50 vs. $180 for the Paul.

SL 57 is similar but missing the SL 49-type 5 bolt attachment of the large chain ring (BCD 50.4 mm).
To me this is a SL 49 A crank arm (Acier = steel) combined with SL49 D (Dural) chainrings like these from 1958:

As far as I know Stronglight 45 is cottered.

84 Stonglight, Motobecane Grand Touring IRD question?
Here is a pic of the Stronglight Triple chainring on my '84 Moto Grand Touring, it now has some miles on it but when I got it last year it had never been used. I think it is a 99?
I have another bike I am putting together, does the IRD look like the Stronglight to you guys? If I can't find a suitable Stronglight, I am thinking about one of these instead

It's an interesting pattern, that I still haven't seen anywhere yet. Even the catalogue looks close but not the same since this is a solid piece with the tips of the star splitting and the outer ring has the oval holes.

The recessed oval Stronglight-logo of the Dural version would indicate to me that I am (at least) partially wrong and John's crank is exactly the one in flickr/stronglight-link: 49D arm + 49D chainrings.

I have an outer ring like that. I've seen quite a few. Mine came from a 1977 Puch with a 49D.

This is owing to the diameter of the chainrings. I have a set of nearly identical SL57 chainrings (at least concerning the outer shape/design), up to 48 teeth there are no oval holes (simply no space left for any holes), from 50 upward there are (no 49 teeth unfortunately).

Did I say the 49A is my favourite crank?

Oh, that would make sense since its a 52 tooth.
Thanks, it's an Allegro Special. I don't know what I did with the Campy front Derailler or shift lever. The rest of the pics can be found here. https://photobucket.com/allegrospecial It needs some cleaning but cleans up nice from what I recall.

Thanks for the photobucket link. Your Allegro is an absolute gem! And I have never seen this crank in reality - must be quite rare.
Left shifter's lever indeed seems to be missing. If you plan to dismount lever body (Campagnolo), remember to unscrew internal 6mm Allen bolt clockwise!, the other way round than you would normally expect to do (and you would unscrew a standard bolt).
