Whoa, that is great! Some of these photos had me fearing the worst. I am glad to see that he and his entire family are safe.

There is word from his daughter that he and his wife and son are alive and safe. Mods, if the link is bothersome for privacy reasons, please remove it. |
Extremely good news indeed! And Dawes-man, it's just as good to know that you are OK too!
|
Wow, great news, hope he is well and also am praying for those dealing with the devastation.
Hope this isn't taken the wrong way but I'm also trying to use my upcoming cycling event to encourage people to give to emergency relief in Japan. I used Mercy Corps last year for Haiti (did the 80 for Haiti charity ride) and set up a page with them this time. Fundraising for emergency relief in Japan Here or somewhere else, any gift you can give is important. I'll be doing the ride on a modernized steel bike, and may do it on a complete vintage steel touring bike if iI an build it and get some practice rides in to get it feeling good. |
If someone was to set up an account for donations I am sure Lenton could use all the help we could offer... or could do it myself.
I know that there are other relief funds but we should tale care of our own as much as we can. |
Yes great news!
I checked the people finder page when i turned my computer on and was just about to tell the good news as well! |

EXCELLENT news!!!!!
|
Wonderful news! Thanks for posting. Keep us informed on his situation.

I think he has PayPal. Great idea, Tony, and getting him back riding.
We should find out what he needs. There are international flat rate boxes. I'd be willing to go in on shipping for a full bike. Anyone know what size he rides? He had a Vitus? |
When I saw the figure was going to be over 10,000 I was worried. VERY relieved, and excellent idea on the account.
|
whew!
I have a 58 Lenton I could offer him. 58 is the year and the size. |
Good to hear both Lenton and Dawes Man are both ok.

My prayer has been answered.

This is the best news I will have heard in a long time, I was so worried about him and his family after reading and seeing all the reports. I had been in contact with him through Email up in til the day of the earthquake, A great day indeed!!

Fabulous!!! I did not realize Dawes-Man lived there too, but I am very happy to hear they and their families are alive and well.
please let me know if we are doing anything for them |
Great news about Lenton58 and Dawesman! Hope they can get peace back in their lives soon!.
I'm also worried about the people that we were introduced to like the old man in the shop who helped restore the Katakura Silk as shown in recent posts. It's older peole like that that do much worse in emergency situations like this eqrthquake and tsunami.....and yes, we might worry about that young kid and his girlfriend who scratched up Lenton58's bike. Disasters like this really puts things into better perspective just as Lenton was doing when he decided in his posts to us that he had more things to worrry or get too mad too much about than the scratched up TT on his 979 which he had a fixes for already in mind to put it in the past..... Chombi |
I'm very touched by the messages of gladness for my and Lenton's wellbeing but I have to tell you that I am entirely undeserving. It is Lenton who is in the disaster zone, right in the middle of the horror of it all, whereas I have been enjoying, more or less, my usual life of comfort here in Tokyo, some 250 miles away. All I have suffered is not being able to get milk for my morning tea (it and other foodstuffs are being diverted to the victims of the earthquake and tsunami) and the distress of being reminded several times a day of the suffering of those like Lenton with each aftershock as it reaches Tokyo and by the reports of how miserable life is up there on the TV.
There are children up there who have lost their families, parents who have lost their children and everyone has lost the lives they had. It is truly tragic. Like you, my heart goes out to them. |
Chombi - Mr Sugiyama lives to the west of Tokyo and will be fine but it's kind of you to worry.
