Has Anyone Heard From Lenton58?

I heard that the Earthquake/Tsunami in Japan hit near Sendai. Just wanted to make sure that he and his loved ones are alright. I have friends in North Tokyo and in Kyoto, too. You are all in my prayers.

Oh, gosh, I hope he's alright... and assuming so, I would think he has more pressing matters to deal with than logging on here... so I won't take not hearing from him as an ominous sign!

mixtemaniac 03-11-11 03:19 PM

hope he's alright and his family is unharmed. sad news. my heart goes out to all.

rootboy 03-11-11 03:30 PM

Yes,
and communications are disrupted all over the country. We might not hear from him in a while given the circumstances.

ColonelJLloyd 03-11-11 03:47 PM

I don't expect we'll hear from him soon, but I sure hope we do eventually. Such a terrible disaster.

gaucho777 03-11-11 03:58 PM

He and his family will certainly be in my thoughts until we do.

Maddox 03-11-11 04:11 PM

Power is out in much of Coastal Japan, so I suspect it might be a little time before we hear anything.

cinco 03-11-11 05:03 PM

I looked him up on Google Person Finder early this morning. No news of him yet, but here's hoping...

USAZorro 03-11-11 05:32 PM

Definitely not panicking, but also hoping for the best. Could be weeks before we hear from him.

RobbieTunes 03-11-11 05:45 PM

I have his email, I'll try that.

EDIT: no response.

David Newton 03-11-11 07:54 PM

I'll pray.

Sixty Fiver 03-11-11 07:59 PM

He's a great guy... am sure that he will check in when he can.

Capecodder 03-11-11 08:03 PM

I pray all is well......

WNG 03-11-11 11:37 PM

My thoughts and concerns are for him and his family as the reports come in from the region. Terrible.
Power has been restored in Sendai. Maybe we'll hear from him soon. :\

From what I heard from work our stores our closed in that area because of network issues - I'm pretty sure that's why we've not heard from him.

Dawes-man 03-12-11 08:00 AM

Lenton58 is in Sendai, the worst hit city at the epicentre of the earthquake. I sent him a message this morning but had no reply as yet.

smoore 03-12-11 08:19 AM

Prayers sent for Lenton and the entire country. Sad.

Dawes-man 03-12-11 09:53 AM

I'm sure Lenton has been evacuated due to the tsunami. He lives in the centre of Sendai and there has just been TV footage of about 40 cars being carried through the city centre by the water.

Glennfordx4 03-12-11 10:08 AM

First thing I did was Email Lorne but I figured he would have other pressing issues to deal with plus I thought he wouldn't have power for awhile.

Thanks for the update. Reports here vary, but they say Sendai has 70,000 people. Some reports say there is "nothing left" there (CNN) and some just leave it at "unknown status."

His comment last week about the relative insignificance of a scratch on a bike - respective to the rest of life's big picture - has rung in my head since.

There are few greater or horrific twists of fate that could have put this statement into perspective, as now.

While I commend and agree with the messages of support for a fellow member of BF, I think when real names are privileged information they should not be used, unless the member includes it in their posts.

If his bikes get ruined I will send him some parts :)

repechage 03-12-11 10:48 PM

Hopefully things are tolerable.
Some things not mentioned is that it is darn cold up that way still, below freezing at night and not much more during the day, it is still Winter at that latitude now and as a Tsunami wave drains after the initial retreat, one really sees the subtle topography, lots of "lakes" get left behind for some time especially when the storm drains are full of mud and debris.

I was think along the same lines. As he was in the centre of Sendai, which was washed over by a tsunami, I reckon his bikes are gone or badly damaged and it would be nice to get a Vitus or Lenton for him. I'd be willing to donate. Also any parts.
