^ Actually "Satin" Chrome. Kind of like on Starrett combination squares. I've used the gold version of this with some pleasing results. I am thinking of using the chrome for an upcoming project. It may be an interesting finish.

Here's what I will do over the weekend for the C & V cause. Besides finding my real camera, I will get a sizable piece of metal. Then I will prep, primer and paint it. Members can submit ideas such as yours and I will try them out on parts of the test piece and report back.

That is correct. In the golf club industry at least the dull finish is referred to as "satin ."

Thanks for posting this - I've got an old Schwinn that desperately needs refinishing, and I've been thinking that this stuff would be fun to use on the head lugs. It's already got a chrome fork.

I'd probably be powder-coating the frame. Wonder if this chrome paint will work (with the primer) over powdercoat?

The only chrome paint that works is something called "KILLER CHROME" or "mirra chrome" from alsa corp . All of the other stuff will give you a metallic grey that simply sucks.

What you can do with the metallic parts is sand them and then polish them back, with the fork maybe you can do the same. The other option is chrome the fork at home with some chroming kit because send that fork to be re chromed will be more than 3 times what the bike's worth.

If you want to paint over the chrome, u have to sand it, apply some etching primer, sand... then regular primer, paint, then clear... sand and polish.
