Wheel building question
 

I'm getting ready to start building my second set of wheels. The first set had no dish to them, S/A hub. This set is going to be around 7 speed Dura Ace 7400 hubs. I measured them and ran them through Musson's wheel calculator. It said my rear spokes should be 294.7/293.5 non-rounded numbers.
Does 1mm difference sound right to have enough dish?

if you round 293.5 down and 294.7 up you get a 2mm difference, and that sounds about right.

Alternatively, round the 293.5 upwards to 294 and round the 294.7 downwards to get 294 and,... voila!, you use the same spoke for both sides of the wheel. :)

FWIW, I've used Damon Rinard's Spocalc: http://www.sheldonbrown.com/rinard/spocalc.htm for years and years with no problems whatsoever. I've built some pretty whackdoodle wheels, too... with my fleet of recumbents I rarely build a "normal" wheel.

Your also forgetting the hub flange distance from center. It is probably much less on one side than the other, hence the dish, even with same length spokes (assuming the same cross pattern both sides).

You could probably use 293/294, 294/294, or 293/295.

If you are using the same spoke type on both sides, then make your like easy and use 294s.

Sounds like 3 cross high flange to a 700c rim. I use 293s...
