Please Help Identify. Possible Cinelli?
 

Anyone have any idea what this is? It has stamped "Cinelli S.C. Made in Italy" under the bb shell and although the lugs look very nice, I don't think it's a Cinelli. TIA

The BB shell is Cinelli if it's stamped as such. I'll let others weigh in on the whole bike itself.

BB shell is the early IC Cinelli, true, but the lugs are (similar to those used on some Carltons) the Prugnat 62bis....and show some thinning work. The stays are single-taper. Don't know that forkcrown but I'm inclined toward a British or American custom builder.

Not sure who made it offhand, but Cindy Olavarri was a pro racer about 25-30 years ago.

She was a silver medalist ( Worlds ) on the track in the early 80's which makes me think that maybe the FMA might have something to do with Matt Assenmacher as he did build some bikes with these style lugs and stay ends.

Cindy was on the 1984 US Olympic Women's Cycling team; we (Trek) built a frame for her to ride at the Olympics. But the frame illustrated here is not that frame.

The shell on the illustrated frame is pre-1982 production, as Cinelli started using their new "winged-C" logo on their BB shells in 1982.

She was pulled from the Olympic team for steroid use, I wonder what happened to the Trek?

I actually contacted Cindy Olavarri regarding the bike. She confirmed it was indeed hers and it was painted green and white and provided by Puch when she was riding for them around '80-'81. However, she did not know who or where the bike was actually built. Your tip led me to contacting Matt Assenmacher and he identified the frame as part of a series he built for the women's Puch team. He just couldn't place a date on it.

I'm not the seller on ebay but I was interested in purchasing the bike. Something about it looked odd to me so I posted it here hoping to get good feedback from you experts. Even though my hunch was correct and it's not a real Cinelli, I still think it's a pretty cool historic bike and looks great.
