First Flip

First official flip, nice to know I am capable of this. I replaced cables, gave it a full detail, all it really needed. Paid $70 put about $10 into it (Cables, soap and other cleaning supplies) sold it today for 275, it truly is spring, here are some before and after pictures. I doubt anyone will be as excited and impressed as I am, but thanks for taking a look.

Well, I'm impressed seeing I haven't been able to sell my Elite RS of the same year (85/86) for 250 in a similar market. Yours is higher-end however. What model is it? I don't see the name on the top tube. Weird, I seem to remember Infinity tubing being for MTB bikes. What's the dif between Infinity and Tange 1?

Congrats on your first "flip" btw. Now go see the religious leader of your preference and absolve yourself of your sins. Then start looking for next flip. Rinse and repeat.

those pedals are funky, I like them. you don't happen to remember what they are do you?

Nice job. I just flipped a diamonback expert tg for $275 to a girl who was super psyched about riding it. It's a great feeling that someone benefits from the work you do (money is nice too...). I've been trying to flip less since it's eating up space and time that can be devoted to riding, the girlfriend, work, school, I can go on forever... Just don't let it trap you!

The pedals look like Shimano 105 or the A550s. Steel toe clips are hard to find for them as they are proprietary and no longer made, but plastic ones can be found pretty easily. I fear for when the steel clips on my 600 pedals break.

nice job.. coulda got that sprocket cleaner though :-p (i'm just messing.. i like to clean them so they are metallic looking again

did you use an acid to turn the rust black?

Haha I totally understand the girlfriend thing, she kept thinking it was just taking up space in our apt and wouldn't work until some non expense cash came. They are shimano 105 pedals, this model is actually one of the lower end, it is actually a Centurion Sport DLX.

As for the rust on the freewheel I had a friend that recommended white lithium grease. I applied the grease and rode it for about a week and the lithium grease took care of the rust on its own.

Just found this Ironman unfortunatly it isnt my size, a little more of a challenge but for $40 why not. Tomorrow I will give it an OA bath to the frame while I am in LA picking up a Trek Elance 531 reynolds for $80, which I will probably keep and possibly throw the 105 components from the ironman on it.

Anyone know where I can find the art work (stickers) for this Ironman?

uhh, is the frame damaged there?

Congrats on your first flip!! :thumb: Great feeling too. I am working on my 4th flip. ;)
Also, I am learning that the flip-money increases our bike funds!! ;)

Don't be to shocked if the Iron man turns out to be a donor, that is a lot of rust there! a couple days in the oa bath and you will know for sure. Nice scores no matter what! Slippery slope you are on...

Who dares to say that?!?

That Ironman is rough. Sad day. Good luck, though!

Congrats!! I flipped a Centurion Sport DLX last summer...I bought it for 10 bucks at a garage sale...cleaned it up changed the dry rotted tires for a used set of Bontragers. I used it for an errand bike for several months before selling it for 200. It had a small ding in the top tube but ran great. It was an '87 with a Tange Infinity frame and a hi-ten fork. Lowly as Centurions go but I turned a good dollar on it. Good Job. :thumb:

That is flippin awesome!
Red one would be scary to me unless I weighted 85 lbs...
Kicking myself for not getting one of these in my size last year when I had the chance.
