The grail cometh ...

... in about 4-6 weeks.

JunkYardBike 04-05-11 06:22 AM

Oh no, not the 'grail' word again!

I'm anxious to see it; you always turn up enviable stuff.

rhm 04-05-11 06:53 AM

Sounds good, but beware! Once it arrives, the grail is no longer the Grail.

Kobe 04-05-11 06:59 AM

4 to 6 weeks? That is one slow boat from China.....or Italy.

rootboy 04-05-11 07:15 AM

what a tease. You gonna give us a hint?

Talk about a teaser! I haven't been this excited since Snakes on a Plane.

If it's a grail for IAB, it's going to be good.

it turns into a aggravating but wildly fun project.

I am sure it will be. I just can't believe he is teasing us like this

randyjawa 04-05-11 08:37 AM

Just for the heck of it, would anyone else like to define what Grail is to them, while we wait, with bated breath, in rampant expectation of what iab's idea of a Grail bike is?

I know exactly what you mean. However, until it does arrive, you cannot determine it to be a Grail, can you? That comment assumes ride quality counts, when examining grail qualities?

So, if it is no longer a Grail, once it arrives (I do understand and agree 100%) and, if you cannot determine it to be a Grail, before it arrives, then, when exactly, is it a Grail?

And, by the way, here is my Grail and I did not know it until I actually had it under me...

This would do it for me....a model CM 753 Lejeune Champion du Monde Ultra Leger Reynolds 753

JunkYardBike 04-05-11 09:20 AM

I guess my grail bike would be whatever Jesús Loroņo rode to his 1957 victory at Vuelta a Espaņa. Not the same model, the exact bike.

This is a much more civilized than the other grail thread! IAB, can't wait to see what your's is.

You got it all wrong. The Holy Grail is Jesus' cup, not his bike.

On the other hand, I'm not really into old cups, so I'd settle for his bike too.

Well, it looks like he's got at least two on his handlebars, so that doubles my chances of finding it!

khatfull 04-05-11 09:30 AM

He chose his grail....poorly.

You can't breach the topic of grails and movies without referencing...oh, nevermind. It'll get out of hand.

JunkYardBike 04-05-11 09:54 AM

I tried to resist, but I just can't help myself:

KonAaron Snake 04-05-11 10:19 AM

Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of eldeberries.

i sure hope you know what year the builder was born and how old he was when he brazed his first tube. Otherwise you're a poseur.

balindamood 04-05-11 11:25 AM

I cannot explain why, but I am really after a Rivendell Bombadill. Just can't find one at a yard sale for $25 like all the other grails in my garage.

Speaking from experience.
Acquiring your grail doesn't lessen your imperative need to buy more bikes.
its really N+1(+grail)
