Visit my shop

I know the notice is tragically late but PastorBob and Jim Muller are stopping by tomorrow about 3 pm. Folks are welcome to stop by and see a working frame building shop (sorry not many lugs) and a decent pile of tasty old bikes (with lugs) and parts. We may visit Timmy the bike flipper and see a PDG bike with riser bars and stem shifters along with 150 other used bikes. (most have been tampered with already)

I am located at 14 Granger street in Bellows Falls Vermont 05101

or call me in vermont at 376 6639

650 miles and 12 hours for me via I-90 (and even longer by bike) means I'll have to pass, but for anyone close by that sure would be a worthy road trip!
- A very kind and generous offer Frank. :thumb:

Mmmm, that is tempting indeed! I tried to persuade Jim to pick me up on the way, arguing that New Jersey is on the way from Boston to Vermont, but he failed to see the sense in that.

Rain check!

I wish your shop was a several hundred miles closer...

ColonelJLloyd 04-07-11 07:45 AM

I'd love to visit, but it's not possible. Have fun fellas and take pics!

+1. Take pics! (-or "it didn't happen")

I just tried to find your place with Google Maps and StreetView, the header said 19 Granger, and I saw a house with wheels and a sled nailed to the front of it, but no #14. Just thought it would be neat to see remotely since I can't be there.

Does the bike flipper have an address? Should be able to see some bikes in the streetview.

Edit: wait, is that you bent over in the back of a pickup with the hood up?

Frank will receive this when I arrive. :thumb:

I wish I could make it!

Wow, that Regina came out sharp! My shop is pretty "non-descript". In fact is looks like an abandoned building with a couple of huge jumps out front.

Have fun guys!

I'll bring my Flip camera, but I do not promise cudak888 type results.

Wish I could make it, but some of us losers have jobs, ya know.

And remember: pics or it didn't happen!

Bob, the number one thing you can do to get good quality out of that camera is to film in good light, and - MOST importantly - put it on a tripod and don't touch it. If you want to film your interaction with Frank, set the camera in a corner with a wide shot. Closeup of a frame? Take video shots of the details, but leave the camera on the tripod - at most, turn it on the panning axis, slowly and smoothly.

When you're done, splice it together. You can create a really nice effect if you film everyone discussing one particular frame, leave the audio in place, and place a few closeup cuts of the frame in between the main video to break up any scene monotony.

Probably too late to drive from CA, huh?

ftwelder 04-07-11 12:38 PM

I had better pick up a bit around here...

I lost the chuck key for my drill a year or so ago. If you find it let me know. Also a few socks.

I just hope no one from my office reads this thread.

Wish I could make it, hiding behind my desk for 2 more weeks though...

If the offer is still in the table I would love to come up at some point this spring/summer to see the place.

Like I don't work? LOL!

Kurt,

I just bought the HD Version with Image stabilization. I might need to send you the raw to make into a nice film.

I've got 20 more years behind mine ..

Yea, I'd like to get up in the summer too.

Scott

Sure, we will do some rides this summer up to Grafton cheese and out to McLaomains pub.

Timmy would flip if I put his address on the internet. I did see the house on wheels though, It's a ice fishing shack. If you were driving north and that house on wheels was on your left 10:00 my shop is 2:00 on your right. It has a weird fake chimney.

gremlin76 04-07-11 08:43 PM

Aw crap, I really want to get over there, and you're only 10 miles away.
But this weekend I am the tech help master for the Vermont state drama festival at Springfield High School, so no free time.
Maybe by 3 everything will be loaded in and I can sneak out, even though I planned to ride if that happened.

you can come by anytime as can anyone else. Don't fret.

I still need to get that old dial phone back from Steph. I borrowed it from hula cat.
