Glad I have a C&V Bike! because now I don't have a car.

I'm going to post this not because I'm boo hooing but I have made some friends here.
A few of us met at the Madison swap and also a few at the Minnesota swap, along with other deals. So I feel I do have some "Cyber and Real" friends here in this forum.
1st...We are all fine!
I live in Augusta, WI and we were hit by 2 tornado's on Sunday afternoon. All I sustained was simple property damage. We lost 2 vehicles and a shed....oh I guess we lost a 70 ft pine also. The pine is what took out the 2 cars. The wind took out the shed. My convertible and bikes were all safe and sound in the garage .
I am going to post a link to NBC, they only talk about Merrill WI but some of the footage is from Augusta because at 41 seconds you see my gray Caravan and my red Jetta and at 42 seconds or so thats my son walking across the street.
NBC Video
The cars and shed can be replaced and I'm not going to miss that pine sap dripping tree.
The local news came out and did a full story from my yard and put my ugly mug on TV. NBC got the footage for the national story from our local news in Eau Claire.
So I got a neat story and 14 seconds of fame.
And my wife gets to shop for a new/used minivan. I think we are moving up to a Chrysler Town and Country Touring this time. I'm not sure I will replace the Jetta but who knows.
Thanks for letting me share,
Cory

Yikes. Glad you're safe (and the bikes too). Cars and other possessions can be replaced.

Thanks tugrul for digging up the WEAU footage of my ugly mug.
Also we were given the news from the National Weather Service report yesterday it was not just winds but 2 tornado's.

Glad you and your family came out unscathed! Too bad about the Jetta. Maybe just some elbow grease and polish? Glad your Cabby is safe though!

Maybe you can convince your wife to forego the minivan in favor of an xtracycle.

Glad you and your family are ok. I suppose if it had to be the cars or the house then it was best the cars got flattened... still, that had to be intense.

I would like to see her in a Passat Wagon but its her choice.
Speaking of "Craigslist/eBay finds brotha"...On Tuesday in the middle of all the crap going on around me I was able to score a UO 8 for $40. I will get some pics up this weekend, I have been going to work in the dark and getting home in the dark. My NiteRider MiNewt.200 came in the mail yesterday from Nashbar, I'm looking forward to it.

I'm glad you have your priorities straight: Don't let a tornado or two stand in the way of a good deal!

Aww, the bike rack got crushed too... what a shame...

But in a seriousness, I'm glad you're alive and still rockin' the CV flag.

The Jetta looks as if you might be able to salvage it with a new roof clip, if it's a vehicle of attachment.

Nevertheless, you and the family are safe - and still have a roof over your head. Keep us informed of how things progress.

And you will never have to but a pine tree air freshener again.

When you said it got the shed I had the feeling this was not going to end well for your bikes. At least they are OK, and also you and your family.

Says it all. Upper Midwest fortitude, and C&V focus, no matter what.

I'm glad no one was hurt, the value of basements is never over-estimated.

I'm glad you had no injuries. That was a very bizarre day weather wise. 80 degrees and still some pretty good patches of snow in the eastern part of the state. I was heading west on 29 near Thorp with 3 bikes on the roof when we had to pull over because of the downpour and hail. Luckily missed the wind you had though.
