As found in the wild.

I did not fix or re-wrap the bars before selling, as I figured the new owner would want to enjoy that pleasure for themselves. :D also - If I had done a re-wrap, I probably would have filched the stem and bars while I was at it.

After much contemplation, I think i"m gonna go blue. Which means re-housing and re-wrapping, but what the heck.

I just think the blue will really make the bike pop.

But until the saddle arrives, I'll ride it yaller.

That will look really sharp, and will be the perfect canvas for your upcoming 8sp Dura Ace purchase :D :innocent::innocent::innocent:

Beautiful bike regardless of the saddle or bar covering.

Since you said it rides like a dream, how would it ride for a 190#, vintage rider?
I've never owned SL, but my 60cm, butted 531 frames are not my..... ? ... steadiest? I love 'em just a bit noodly.

Bar tape has been replaced since these pics with my favorite brand O' softy gel stuff, and there's new brake cables and yellow housing on it now. Tires are like new (heck, the whole BIKE is like new), but sadly the Avocet saddle is pretty much down the tubes. Any ideas on a yellow saddle? I've been looking at the Selle Italia flow gel, but suggestions would be appreciated.

I agree. Beautiful bike. Even though I a grossly over biked and actively not looking, this is one that would interest me.

I'll bet Davis and his son would get a kick out of seeing this. We didn't make that many and even fewer seem to have survived. Keep this and enjoy it and do a few sprints for Davis.

We're in the same weight range- I fluctuate between 192 and 198- and it rides, well, like a dream.

Funny you should say that, Dave. I'm trying to figure out the year on this- the Serotta forum shows the model in 89 and 91, but some earlier catalogs are missing. Based on the components (VERY early tricolor Uniglide) I'm guessing early 87.

Odd connection here, too: my daughter's in-laws are HUGE bikers, they live in Colorado, and there's Parkinson's in the family. A trifecta.

Improvement today: Hyperglide freehub arrived yesterday, installed today and put a 12/28 HG cassette on it- still 126 OLD.

Made a few RD adjustments and away we went. Much easier on my well-toned but aging legs. Such silky shifting action, love the Tricolor stuff. With a 38 in place of the 42 small ring, this will have the same gearing range as a compact 50/34 with a 12/25 9 speed. I'll post more pics when the blue Selle V2 saddle arrives.
