How could I pass on this?

Recently met a guy who used to run a shop locally back in the day, just kinda tinkers outta his shed now, has a ton of crud, everywhere, so needless to say hes basically been getting a cut of my paycheck lately. Lotta crap, some few hidden gems too, among them (feel free to place it in the crap category if you wish, but hey its curious),

im sure you've all heard of it before, and seen it, as have I, but never saw one in the flesh. I love the great care to make sure the face plate was facing the right way before it was all riveted together.

I have one of these and was just examining it a few days ago. I noticed that the pivots are not riveted together, but use a pin with a C-ring holding it in place. Kind of nice actually.

Are these supposed to shift crappily? Kind of a cool-looking piece of kit, I think.

I think I also have a set of downtube shifters.

I have seen one full outfit of that equipment in the flesh before, including the frame and saddle. It IS pretty cool looking stuff, i'd have bought it too!

You must be kidding guys. Czechoslovakia was NOT part of Soviet Union. It was named Czecho-slovak socialistic republic, but there was no "soviet" in the name.
