Its a Wurlitzer. I think (hope) Its still in my parent's garage. I trash picked it off the side of the road 10 years ago

Rudi, once again I did miss the point....didn't know you were talking about Acoustic! Your old Archtop and mine are remarkably similar.

Yep. Trash. Send it to me.

I've always wanted a Fender Rhodes Student model. My house is not "mid-century modern", but I don't care. That'd be a cool piece to have somewhere in my house. I'm pretty sure my grandma has the matching kitchen appliances.

The "Avocado" is cool, but the "Harvest Gold" perfectly matches my mom's 1976 Maytag fridge, range, washer, and dryer.

1936 Kalamazoo KG-31

And three pretty crappy pics of a W.C. Henderson #486 (conveniently 2x my other one which is #243). The wood for the back and sides is wild cherry from my family's farm. The neck is a tame cherry also harvested locally, the top, Appalachian Spruce from West Virginia. The fingerboard, peghead veneer, and bridge are all Brazilian Rosewood. I designed the carving on the back of the peghead (carving actually done by the guy who taught me guitar). It's a bit difficult to see but they're dogwoods, our state flower. There are also dogwoods carved on the neck heel. I actually got to do a decent amount of work on this in the shop. I've been slowly watching hoping one day I might learn enough to make a ukelele, or better yet, a mandolinetto.

I saw Steely Dan last summer and Donald Fagen was hammering away on a Fender Rhodes all night.

I'm a woodwind player and I used to have several C&V wind instruments. I sold my 60's Selmer MarkVI Alto sax to buy a Bari Sax, I've still got my 50's Beuscher Alto but its stored away deep. If I can find it i've got a 60's vintage flute as well. The flute needs an overhaul before its playable though. Got a beat-up 80's trombone as well.

My bro plays a beautiful vintage Pearl drumset. He's a kick ass drummer.

Wow, 20grit! That Henderson is very, very cool. One of these days I'm going to have Creston Lea build a guitar from some barn wood.

As per request:

'90 Collings Clarence White, '66 Gibson J50, '83 or '84 Squier Bullet
Back row - Deering Golden Era

The Collings gets played all the time, the others rarely. The Gibson's pick guard has been curled up for decades. That makes it hard to play because my fingers can get stuck between pick guard and strings (ouch!).

Jim - There's plenty of reputable places around you that do repairs and lifting and re-glueing a pickguard is one of the more minor operations. If it would result in your playing it not-so rarely, then it would certainly be worth it. -Of course depending on the pickguard material, it may be best to have them make a new one. Greven makes some very tasty pickguard materials.

Oh, I know. The Music Emporium, sort of the Harris Cyclery of music stores, is just a few miles away. Mostly it's a matter of what can be done vs. what needs to be done. As guitars go that J50 is an oldie but not that much a goodie as to make me need to play it right now. It's the AO-8 of guitars, decent in its day and ridden a lot, I mean played a lot, but nothing special. I owned and performed with two other dreadnaughts (which the J50 isn't quite) before finding the Collings.

The Bullet is another story. I bought it on a whim one day, played it fair regularly. I recorded one song with it as an accent track because of the song's content. Back when I was traveling a lot for business I would carry it on planes and practice in motel rooms with a little headphone unit. When I worked at Lexicon it made a great audio source to feed into new devices I was working on to listen for effects and unwanted artifacts.

What, a Gibson acoustic guitar with a warped pick guard? Who'd'a thunk it?

There's probably no hope for regluing it. The one that came on my Hummingbird is so warped you could use it as a soup ladle. Cutting a new one out of a nice piece of hardwood laminate is a DIY job.

There was was a Thread on the Martin Forum (UMGF) about replacing Gibson Pickguards from the mid to late '60's by one of the Tech Gurus...

They have generally shrunk as well as pulled away. You can reglue them but they'll never line up properly and you'll have a gap between the pickguard and the finish.

This one has a big gap between the pickguard and finish.

I'm still trying to figure out if the Colonel's avatar is a portrait of himself. Unless I'm mistaken (which happens often enough), it sure fits his musical tastes which would seem to have deep roots.

Although not vintage, MIJ Fender Aerodyne Telecaster has a sweet P-90 in the neck position. I love that guitar. I see Aerodyne Strats around from time to tome, but it's the only Aerodyne Tele I've wandered across.

Thanks, Jim. Yes, like many of us here I really enjoy roots music and the various forms it spawned.

My nickname as a small child was Porter. I had some awesomely gaudy, blue, hand-me-down cowboy boots two sizes too big I wore everywhere. No Nudie suit, but I had the boots. I've got a great pic of me at age 4 or 5 singing into a fire truck mounted to an upright vacuum handle while Roy Clark performs on Hee Haw on the console TV behind me.

I just found this pic that our driver/roadie/muscle took in SLC. He despises being asked to take photos and can barely figure out a digital camera, but he managed to snap a good one here. Yeah, I'm man enough to rock a pink shirt.

New take on upright bass. I believe this is a 50's Kay I'm playing. The black guitar in the foreground is a Gibson L-00. This is from the Union Grove Fiddler's Convention last year. Makes for a good memorial day weekend every year.
