Need help with a Raleigh ID - Picture Heavy

Picked this up off a guy who has had it in a barn for at least ten years. After spraying it off with the water hose to remove at least a half inch of bird excrement, this is what it looks like. Any idea on the year and model?

Stamped under the BB is: 3DM4652

I don't know which model it is but, I'm thinking it is from the mid 80's.

Though not positive, the Raleigh pictured is of Asian origin, being made in Japan for the US market. As for what model, I cannot be sure but Record just might be bang on the money. And if it is Record, the bike is entry level, at best.

Here is a Raleigh Record built for the Canadian market. An eighties vintage and much like the one the OP presented...

That Canadian Record looks like the one they called a Pursuit in the US.

I'd bet it's Taiwanese, Looks a lot like my sons old Pursuit.

Actually, now that I look at it again it looks a LOT like his old Marathon.
