Help with C-Record SHIFTER ID..?

Hey gang, digging through bike stuff and looking for eBay fodder (stuff I don't need), and found these shifters. I believe they're first generation C-Record "Synchro", but not certain... I'm looking to unload all but my earliest C-Record, and want to know what these are called. Also, what's the little extra lever on the rear shifter for; overshifting to a chain hanger..or..? Thanks for your help! :)

P.S.- If somebody has to have these and wants to swap something amazingly cool...

those are Synchro shifters. do you know what insert is in them? the little lever on the side is to change from index to friction

Thanks, Bianchigirl. I just found more info on ID of Synchros...and it looks like these have the yellow, 6 speed insert. If anyone's hot to get a set of first generation Synchro shifters (look like NOS) with 6 speed insert... Let me know. :)

All Synchro levers are 'Record' levers.

Almost. All Syncro I shifters are Record. Buth the Syncro II shifters also came as Athena. These were painted, not polished.
