Yikes! Spare parts bikes.

What happens when you've hoarded so many parts that you can build complete bikes with them? Order more parts and build a spare parts bike!

Here's my spare parts Schwinn (ordered the wheels for it)!

Before

After

I'm gonna decide if I like the bars upright or dropped before they get the leather wrap! Post your spare parts builds!

Careful with that coasterbrake. High-end tubing isn't meant to have braking forces applied to it in that fashion.

Kurt, I will definately keep that in mind. Front brake is for those hard stops. The coaster's for cruising.

The hub is a shimano nexus inter-3 and a shimano 7-spd shifter. I lined up the hub's 2nd gear with the shifters 3rd position from fully loose.

-fully loose = 1st
-3rd position = 2nd
-6th position =3rd

Maybe you could find those stainless steel (Not the foil sticker) chainstay guards (they sold lots of them in the 80's) that you stick on the drive side chainstay to protect it from scratches during wheel changes.. You could mount it on the non drive side and effectively thicken the tube and spread out the loads from the brake torque arm. You could even double layer it, using two guards, so it will be even stronger. It would be an easy, reversable modification.

Yeah as soon as Kurt brought that up I started brainstorming for some solutions. Thats a good idea.

Haha, I wish I had a garage! The only other wheelset I have hanging around are some Campy tubulars that will never see use.

Last year I had so many spare parts I was able to build 4 complete SS bikes. All I had to do was order 4 BMX freewheels and 4 sets of chainring bolts.

I think he'll be OK, according to my hacksaw chainstays in that area are thick.

I trust Kurt and your hacksaw but for peice of mind, I'm gonna slap a stainless chainstay protector on there anyway. Stuff like that bugs me, kinda like OCD
