Are you sure that is 1989? I have a Trek 7000 in that same color scheme, and I'm trying to place the date. I also have an almost identical Trek 8000 that I know is 1991. I posted a pic of both of them in this thread a few days ago.

Yup.
The 7000 doesn't list Mint specifically in a scheme, but 1990 has Green. And your 8000 seems like a 1991 from the catalog at the same website.

Here's my garage-sale 22" 500. It's 1983, if my reading of the ser# is right (but the lady I bought it from said her hubby got it in '76. Maybe she was thinking of a different bike). All original as far as I know, except tires, I'm guessing. I doubt skinwalls 29 years old would be in that good of shape. Bar tape and gum hoods are rotten, but everything else looks very nice. Will be looking to trade it eventually for a 24" or 25" (hopefully also an old Trek) that I can actually get comfy on. My freakishly long legs just don't get proper extension even with the seatpost maxed. And the handlebars seem too close.

When the 8000 was still relatively new, I used to see lots of 6000s, 7000s, and a very few 8000s around. They all looked similar, but only mine had the black splatter paint job, and that really stood out. In fact, it still does, especially since there isn't a scratch on it, not even on the chain stay.

1980 412 Trek aka Rocinante
Posing in front of Chateau de Vie or House of Life.
The old owner was a huge person in the internet porn industry, I think they even shot some porn there. Think it was even used in a rap video or something.
Then the new owners wanted to use it as a bed-and-breakfast a bistro and event facility for parties, stuff like that.
City council ended up shutting that Idea down so it is back up for sale. The owners said that if it wasnt turned into a event center that it will probably be torn down for more homes. Many of the residents in the area want to turn it into a subdivision.

I changed the gearing on my 85 660 for my old legs and the hills around my area. This is the only decent shot I have so far and it is snowing and dark outside now.

My 1981 412. Purchased new at Palo Alto Bicycles in the Bay Area for $320. 22.5", metallic gray. Eric Heiden was in the store the day I bought it. He was a pre-med student at nearby Stanford.
I'm a newbie; how are you able to post larger photos within the message?

I just acquired this one last evening. It is a bit rough, and is missing its brakes and levers, but still has most of its Campy components. It will be redone over the winter.

1992 Trek 8000, 22" Al frame with cromo fork. Bought it from my brother's neighbor, just finished rehabing it last night. Might covert it to drop bars. Did some parts changes, so while its not completey original, its completely ridable.

92 Trek 750 Multi Track. I swapped out the straight bar and Suntour twist grips for a North Road and Suntour barends. Obviously, I added the Champion Flyer as well.

picked this 1400 up off ebay. it was in pretty sad shape, but a little clean up and some replacement parts did wonders. i have it for sale on my local craigslist, but im thinking about keeping it.

My two 1100s and my beater 1400! Love that bike! I always end riding more miles than I set out to on the 1400!
