Here's my Trek 560, my winter road bike. I picked it up a few years ago from the previous owner who had it hanging in his garage since almost new.

My commuter, that will soon be converted into more of a tourer/commuter.

Interesting story about it, though. My son found it in an alley (here in Tempe, AZ, almost everyone has an alley behind their house that has some dumpsters, so that everyone can deposit their trash). This thing was in VERY rough shape! It was under a bunch of trash and looked like someone was cleaning out their garage and this was part of the flotsam/jetsam. Anyway, he brought it home and I went to work on it. There was grime all over it, and hardly anything worked. But I stripped it down, and rebuilt it. I had to buy a few new parts (shifters, saddle, tires, brake pads & cables, etc.), but for the most part, it is all original. I threw a rack I had on it, and it is a super nice commuter!

How did you squeze fenders in there? I have an '86 Trek 560 with 28mm tires and there is no way fenders would fit even if I had 23mms.

The only reason those fenders fit is because I'm running 23mm tires (labeled as 25mm but measure about 22.8mm).

My '87 Elance 400T. I bought the frame and decided to build it as a 9 spd but tried to keep it somewhat retro with the bar ends and Brooks. I like the more upright aspect of the bars with this stem set up but kind of wished I would have gone with a silver quill.

I should do new pics of everything, but here's some recent pics of the 1985 620.

I've done some parts acquiring and some playing around with stuff and I'm just about there with the bike. Right now, I'm rockin' 6 Speed Command Shifters and a 6 Speed Shimano FW. A Suntour XC Pro RD and the stock Sachs/Huret Pilot FD. Atom Hubs and Mavic rims. I replaced the long reach SR stem with a shorter reach SR Custom. I really like the newer Bontraeger bar tape and I have some Planet Bike "Century Gel Pads" under the tape.










Among the things I'm thinking about- replacing the Blackburn rack with one of the Tubus racks, and I'm thinking of some way to attach lights so I can use my handlebar bag- but the bag is in the way and I'd like to find some new pedals. Right now- it's pretty much just minor tweaks. I'm loving this bike- it is the single most comfortable bike I've ridden.

Take it to a hobby/model store and match it to a closest color of model paint, and find what other colors you need to add to match. If you're lucky, the person at the store will help you out!

I'm color blind and have always failed miserably trying to match,Whether with paint or nail polish.This bike is in such special condition that an exact match for the few unfortunate scrapes would be justified.

Picked up a couple Treks last few months
First is a 82 Trek 730 according to the serial number. That was a sold as a bare frame with full 531, Campy 1010 drops, Nikko lugs and a Cinelli BB. Came in Pewter paint. At some point it was painted Orange and if the stickers are correct it had a full Super Campy Group. Decent paint job. Missing the Campy cranks and Rear derailleur. Wearing 6000 Cyclone cranks and derailleurs in the picture but I have campy cranks and derailleurs I'm putting on it soon.


Second I picked up was a 84 Trek 890 bare frame and fork. This was one year only model billed "for the urban canyon". Came on Panasonic 26x1.5 radails.

Mostly built it up with early 90's LX. I did lace up a 130mm 9 speed hub and put 9 sped Dura Ace bar ends on it. Liking it. Nice ride good to bang around on. I inteded it to be foul weather/ light single track bike but had the Aged Brooks and the Dirt drops with Books tape in the parts bin so I thew them on. The Brooks stuff is likely getting moved to another build soon.

Just got my Tubus Cargo in today, very nice rack. Seems to be very sturdy and solid. Got the Tara in the mail as we speak! MY 2011 520, getting ready for my CC trip on June 18th! I'm very excited!

This thread is old but so is my bike, so there ya go. It's an '82 311. Most parts have been replaced with something newer, but the headset, stem and handlebars are original. Decals were stripped off long ago. It's currently doing duty as my single speed brevet bike with 46/18 gearing. My plan is to do a Super Randonneur series on it this year. So far I've finished the 200k and 300k. Also rode a 370k flèche on it this past weekend. I'm not sure I ever want to make it multi-speed again. This is too much fun.

It's a Shimano 3N80 hub driving a B&M IQ Cyo headlight. I use a battery powered taillight (PB SuperFlash) to keep things simple.
