To understand these charts, one must have a basic understanding of a half step setup. The step between FW sprockets should be twice the step between chainrings. This allows each step in the FW to be split in half by a concurrent shift up front (a double shift).
I have used gear ratios under each chainring, not inches. Second, the percents represent the amount of change between gears when one double shifts. The firth column, K, represents the deviation of a double shift (both FW and chainring) from a single shift (chainring only - in this case, 11.1%). Ideally you want a 0% deviation, but thats not possible. To evaluate the efficiency of a half step setup, I then find the sum of the absolute values of the %deviation. The lower the number, the closer the setup is to ideal. I have not yet found a more ideal setup than a 50/45 and this particular 5s 14-32 FW.

The '82 catalog lists the 14-16-19-23-27-30 freewheel as stock for the 614. Probably would have benefitted from a xxxx-28-32 at the large end, but that would probably have required a longer FW cage.

Looks like Ill be switching up my gearing some, I should be able to make a nice setup. Using gear-calculator to help visualize, looks like buying a 48t ring and moving my 13-28 from the 760 should make for nice steps.
Just picked up one of the CR18 wheelsets from Velomine, Ill pick those up on the way home.
Edit: Harris Cyclery also has Nittos Marks Rack on closeout for $99.95. Ive been eyeing those anyway, had to nab one yesterday.

I upsized my 610! I swapped an 84 22.5 610 and an 86 560 for this long legged and prestine 24 610! I loved the bike in 22.5 and its only better in the right size!

My 1982 412. The frame is from Craigslist, the drivetrain is entirely from the co-op and the cockpit is mostly new bits. The frame is nothing special, but I like the build and it makes for a great brevet bike on a budget.

@fliplap that is a stunning 412! Proper 25.5" size and everything. My '80 412 with the same tubing etc is such a nice rider. Plenty capable, classy, with great ride and road manners. Ace fender line work there, as well as color matching the saddle and bar tape.

Oh, and in case anyone was wondering, those are 700x32mm Panaracer Paselas. The frame will just barely clear 700x38 Voyager Hypers without fenders. Chain stay clearance is the limiting factor, dimpling would make them clear with flying colors.

Here's my Emonda. Only thing that are still original on it are the handlebar, frame and fork. Everything else has been upgraded and changed. In a few short weeks, I plan to replace the handlebar too. But I do love this beauty.

I've shared this build in another thread, but I am excited about finishing this project (for now) and I want to show it off. It's a 1984 Trek 510 with a 2x10 Shimano Deore XT drivetrain of varying vintages and Tourney centerpulls to maximize fender and tire clearance.
Eventually the plan is to get a Brooks Swallow and hang my Carradice on the back for some long rides. I'll also try out a Dia-Compe centerpull-mounted rack for a randonneur bag. The bartape came from the Box o' Crap and was actually an inspiration for the build, so far I like it a lot.
