Purchased worn out and rusty from original owner. 531 frame was blasted and then powder coated in satin black. I created and applied the decals based on modern, current designs and used the current logo badging. Drivetrain is all vintage 8 speed Dura Ace but had to go with a longer rear brake for 700 conversion. Fork is Kinesis carbon with sleeper 531 decals. Wheels are Ksyriums with GP4000sII in 23. Finished weight is 22lbs-6oz. Love the way this thing turned out and seems like every time I ride it somebody wants to buy it.

It matches my 610 in tubing, once trek started messing with aluminum and CF, all the numbers migrated down, my 600 series of '83 is pretty comparable bro the 400 Elance of '87

Good to know, thanks for the info. Wasn’t much left of the original I just tried to find something that looked as close as possible to what remained on the rusty tube. That/those happened to be the set I used. I debated on not using the fork ones at all, then decided if someone mistook carbon for steel that would probably be a good thing.

Found this mislisted and NOS on Ebay and got the frame for what I think was a steal. Built up with a brand new Ultegra 8000 groupset and wheels I stole off my Basso.

This bike was given to me by the original owner who got in an auto accident a week after he bought it. He never really got to ride it due to serious back injury. I took it apart and cleaned it and i couldn't ride it because it was way to small for me. I gave it to my son in law so he would have a cool vintage bike. He loves it but doesn't ride it much.
