Be careful when using Craigslist

Sadly, this young man was robbed, then later shot and killed after he went to buy something advertised on Craigslist:

Better to meet in a reasonably busy public place, especially if you are answering an ad for a high dollar item.

That is awful. I am sure that thought has entered most of our brains when using craigslist at one time or another. I agree, if I can get the seller to meet in public, I won't go. Also, make sure you don't list a home phone number because of reverse lookup. It never hurts to travel with company, although, I wonder if that only would have resulted in multiple deaths in the story above.

the guy went with his girlfriend. he got shot when they chased the car with the robbers into a cul-de-sac.. they shot at him as they passed by.

if you get jacked by someone off CL and they have a gun, let it go man, cause it's gone. call the cops asap but don't try to recover the goods yourself unless you want to risk getting shot. nothing is more valuable than coming home to your family

He was wrongfully murdered and the killers (all of them) should pay the price. How sad that three dirt bags have taken the life of a good kid. How sad for the kid. How sad for the families.

Once the dirt bags produced a firearm, he should never have pursued them. Even if he also had a firearm (yes, even in California, it is possible to get a permit to carry a concealed weapon), he should never have pursued them - never. Their gun changed the equation, tilted it drastically against him.
