It think it's a 1989 (specs)

It looks like a 23" frame though.

I thought it was a 25" at first glance.

To be honest, that seems like a lot of money for a low/midrange bike.

Well, I picked it up, got good and bad news. Will start with what I think is the bad news. I think it is TOO DAM SMALL FOR ME!!

The good news is, the frame looks like it is brand freakin new!! I gave my wife the line that I paid $70 for the bike, and took the truck and picked up. Since I was on the motorycle, she had to drive the truck with the bike on the back. So, the sneakin deal was out. I just gave her a fib on the price.

Back to the bike, when I saw that it might be too small, I figured I had made a bad deal. It rained a little on the trip home. When my wife came in, I barely said hi to her and went straight to the bike.. Took in the garage. Wiped it off, and low and behold, the frame looked brand new. No scratches what so ever, and not only that the decals, and the sparkle paint are spotless. Components are Suntour Edge/Blaze whatever.. Hubs have a "kk" under some figure..Wheels are 27. The more I wipe this bike, the more I smile. It is truly spotless. Some scratches on the crank, and only scratches I see are two little babies on the stem..The bike is dam cherry.. It has LOOK pedals, that seemed to be in the $200 range..Okay, I took some pics with my brownie type camera. But, pictures don't do the condition of this bike no justice. Again, the frame looks brand new.. That is how clean and bright the paint and decals are..

Don't know what year this is, but I jumped when I saw the aero levers, downtube shifters, and clipless pedals..

Tilt those bars up a bit, and see if the seat post has a bit more room then see if it's too small.

You can raise both but make sure you have at least 2" engaged inside the ST and the steerer.
It looks like a 58cm to me - probably the median frame size back in the day. You may well be able to "stretch' it enough to get on it. If not, I don't think it will be hard to find someone who will give you $170 for it - You'll make a hundred bucks profit, and can take the Wife out on the town. She'll love you for it.

It does look cherry. Just nick those reflectors and yellowed plastic dork disc, polish up the alloy bits, and it'll look showroom new.
I believe you have King Kong hubs. At least that's what I found when I searched for the KK brand. I have a mtb wheel with one of their conventional hubs.
I think it's Taiwanese.

There's no hard and fast rule that the bars HAVE to be even with the seat. In fact, the bike is a sporty/racy design, and could easily go with a 2-5" drop from saddle to bars, as long as your body could handle that.
Cool bike.

Well, I am 50,50 on keeping it or selling it. First, I am trying to get the dam pedals off.. I have no need for LOOK pedals, and they look like they would bring at least $50. I was messing with trying to take the pedals off for about a hour.. Didn't want to strip the bolts/nuts so I stopped. Does anybody know which way I turn the 6mm bolt behind the RIGHT pedal? I know it is some tricky stuff in the way you turn the nuts on the pedals, really don't want to screw this up..

Here is a big pic, like I said the frame looks brand new.. The paint looks like it has 10 coats of wax on it..

I got $56 for a similar set on flea-bay a few years back. Funny thing was that they came as an 'extra' with a bike I picked up for $50. So I guess I did ok on that bike.

About the pedal removal... ditch the 6mm allen from behind method and get a real 15mm pedal wrench with a long handle and attack the wrench flats up near the crank. A blast of PB Blaster before hand couldn't hurt either.

Okay, I think I have one of those wrenches. It came with the Park Tool Basic tool kit. Don't laugh at this question, but working on the right pedal, which way do I turn the wrench??

The right (drive side) pedal is standard threading, so turn it left to loosen. (ie. counter clockwise)

Cool bike.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Del Reys sport tourers? EDIT: I didn't see that you said sporty. Just saw the racer. Ignore.

And $50 for those pedals? My LBS has them for $5. A bin of them. Tell me who you guys are selling to.

I can't speak for the set on the Del Ray but the set I was referring to were a red and white set of the classic Looks. And they were CHERRY, maybe a ride or two on 'em. The winning bidder was extremely happy with his purchase. So was I.

$50 seems pretty optimistic but they are nice pedals. I have some that have had the snot beat out of them and the bearings are still like butter. Then again, I'd say the same for my Mavic and Shimano Look-compatible pedals. Good stuff.

I think I can understand that. What ever pedal I am working on, to loosen, I am turning the wrench away from the front..

Thanks much..
