No, I was just offering my humble services as I know the overwhelming feeling situations such as yours can instill. And, there's far too few support groups for seeking help. Now, if the pair of white and the pair of silver fenders on the far left were available at a price I could swing, maybe you'd feel better just having a little more funding in your paypal account?

Oh wait....have I just become one of those "enablers"? How unsupportive of me......

I fail to see a problem. Now in my case I have that many saddles, but they are not brooks saddles. They are beaten up tear-offs from low-end bikes that have since found new homes. I kept them incase I wanted to recover a saddle in a pinch, or need a bit of hardware, but this thread reminds me that I need to thin that bunch out. Time to gather up another load for the co-op.

hehehe The vultures have already begun to circle.

I don't understand. What is the nature of this problem you refer to?

Mounted parts don't count. If they did, I'd consider myself knee-deep in Brooks saddles.

Neal you've totally dissipated my guilt and any need to sell off parts anymore. I punched up this thread and said to Elizabeth, "Look hon...there's those Bluemels I sold/traded for and Neals not even using them. (white lie, she can't tell the diff) He's had to admit he has a problem and is getting help, poor guy"

whew!

PS I'd like a Champion Narrow, whadday need? I'd also trade two Raleigh front wing nuts with flanges for two GB's of the same.

Since most of my things are on complete bikes, I don't have to admit a problem. NO spare frames, only 2 spare groups (1 vintage, 1 nine speed), a few spare saddles, a couple of derailleurs. Plus the usual junk stuff.

I admire you hoarders of true collections. Esp the saddles and cool cranksets (oh yeah, AND the fancy hubs).

I'm not sure if trying to amass a collection of the entire family tree of Suntour V and V-derivatives (right on down to the 3-pulley LePree offroad model) is evidence of sanity or madness. It's certainly time-consuming, if not terribly costly-- except for that Suntour Le Tech model that I can never win on eBay! Damn those snipers!

Neil, since it seems you've used a LOT of bags over the years, any recommendations on bags that look good with a Brooks Flyer?

What Neal has is not a problem.

The mountains of kickstands, reflectors and dork disks the rest of us have collected? That's a problem.

WOW!

And here I thought I had a problem hoarding LOL. No wonder I can't find a good deal on a Brooks saddle you keep getting them all. I don't know what model saddle it is but I would love one of those wider Brooks for my up coming tourer build, gotta matching rear bag to go with

I have so many reflectors I was looking for a use for them. I'm thinking putting them on an old Hazmat suit and going out for Halloween as Reflector Man.

I feel much better now. I don't have a problem, just eight or nine complete bikes and a few left over parts.

It's a different story with vintage audio gear. I just caught myself bidding on a better amplifier to replace the amplifier that I just won and hasn't even been delivered yet. I never did that with bike parts.

Well, I do have piles of all of those other things, too: reflectors, kickstand, crappy saddles, steel handlebars. I had over 30 freewheels, but I stuck them in a box and sent them to Pastor Bob.

One reason I've amassed a lot of saddles is out of concern that the Brooks saddles I ride a lot will fail fairly soon, whether snap at the nose or tear at a rivet. I have a few that are close to dying.

So, yeah, it's all perfectly rational. :|

While the Flyer has bag loops, the springs kind of get in the way a bit, so I've found you need something with long straps (or you need to swap in long straps). Most of my bags are black, and I'd have to say the stuff made by Acorn is top notch:

More recently, I bought a Carradice Pendle from Wiggle in the UK. Took forever to ship (I ordered it back in Dec; it arrived earlier this week). But it's a classic English cloth saddle bag.

No one man can ride all those saddles. Can he?

4Rings, your collections pretty awesome too. Im sure you could save space and then get a bigger place if you unloaded a couple of those.

Agreed! Share the wealth. I don't even have one leather saddle

Freewheels, kickstands, spoke protectors, and rear brake calipers on the other hand... During the SS craze I converted lots of bikes and people always let me keep the parts I took off.

Building my MX Leader with Record / Chorus alloy 10 speed isn't cheap...keep your eyes out for a big sell-off thread soon.
