No Particular Place to Go (June pictures)

Since we still seem to be putzing around with idea of a new photo series for June, I'll start this. BBM's idea for the Chuck Berry song was good so I've run with that idea. Few rules apply here 1) No nudity, please, seriously 2) Try to give a sense of the terrain that you're riding 3) A bicycle must be present in the picture. I think that's enough rules. Have fun and RIDE!

Here is my opening picture. My wife and I went for a 20 miler this morning with no destination or really idea where we were going. This picture is Meg riding her Mondia through some local farmland.

If this idea takes hold (hopefully it does) and it makes it to a sticky, perhaps we can archive each month's pictures in a sub folder. Just another idea

It was a great day to be out although it was a bit warm with a heat index around 98 degrees. I ride in shorts above 40 degrees so it was a little warmer than I am comfortable with. BUT, a bad day on the bike is better than a good day at work!

Since it was my concept that was chosen, I'll not post any pics.

Oh, I think you should! Your photo can be disqualified from the 'contest', in that someone else will get the privilege of choosing the next theme, but I'd like to see what you come up with.

Bike Sundays in Westchester County, north of NYC. Hundreds, if not thousands, of cyclists out there with no particular place to go...and enjoying every minute of it!

I love Long Beach WA! My daughter and I drove up to the kite festival and stayed for a week a few years ago. She won her first dual line contest that week. I'd like to live there when I retire.

No particular place to go, for me, implies that you change your route whenever you feel like it, and stop to look at anything interesting you see. Fifty reproduction Cobras, for example, seen at Washington's Crossing Park in Pennsylvania yesterday:

We stopped in front of this house to regroup so I snapped a pic. The conditions were ideal weather-wise but the bugs nearly killed us. Both the bear and fish are naked but modesty has prevailed in this case.

Wait! Let me guess, let me guess! It's the guy holding the bicycle. Those other folks don't look like they'd be BF members.

Bugs is paradise? Oh wait, that's Vermont, only almost-paradise.

Great pics, all. I sure wish I coulda' gotten out biking. Took my sweetie canoeing instead. Hard work, pushing upstream. Like riding uphill.

On the Ipswich River, though the Wenham Swamp. A bike would not be a good vehicle here.

Lots of fun. That picture was taken on the new Discovery Trail which runs along the dunes from downtown LB to Beards Hollow and then over the hill to to the Port of Ilwaco.

I guess since these are only reproduction cars they would not come and let them play at Carlisle Fair grounds during Ford Weekend.

Correct! Man, you deserve a prize for such sharp observation and clear thinking. Though, if you look closely, there are actually two bicycles in the photo.

Thanks - it was a fun day. Those are actually elk - this is the birthing area for the calves in the spring. There were several in this group of 12 including a really small one that couldn't have been more than a week old.

I'm a big fan of riding vintage mountain bikes. Even my newest is fully ridgid. I came accross a large 8-point buck (whitetail deer) during rut season. We were in a staring contest as I tried to snap a picture of him. Then he started coming towards me. It was then that I noticed a doe about 50 feet to my left. Needless to say I got out of there quick before I got gored.
