British and Italian thread question
I recently bought a frameset from someone on here and was told its BB shell was british thread.
I bought a british threaded campy BB and it doesnt fit. It falls thru as its too small of a diameter for the BB shell. Does this mean its most likely Italian thread? I have no experience with Italian stuff but I think its slightly larger. Im curious if perhaps it could be anything else? I doubt it would be but I dont want to buy yet another BB that doesnt work. Gets expensive. Trying to figure out what I need. :( I was planning to get another Veloce BB. I have a Campy Centaur square taper crankset. Thanks |
Italian bottom bracket shells are right threaded on the drive side and they're normally 70 mm wide rather than the standard 68 mm, so it shouldn't be hard to tell if it's italian.

Thanks.
There is a diameter difference too, right? This british BB I bought falls right thru the hole without touching threads. BTW, the shell of this bike is 70mm. |
YES it is Italian.
