Pedigree of blue Ambrosio tubular rims/wheeset?
Does anyone know any bikes that may have sported these wheels. Ambrosio blue tubbies laced to Sunshine hubs with a 5 speed cluster. Sorry no pics but they're dead ringers for Mavic SSC's. A slightly lighter shade of blue maybe, really pretty.
Thanks.
Thanks.

are thet dark blue coating or just blue anodized? I have some real sexxy red ones that are just anodized.

Good question BG. I had looked at them for a minute yesterday and I'll get another look on Monday. I suspect they're anodized but I thought the SSC's were too. Later Mavics had that ceramic coating yes?
These wheels are beautiful and I don't need them. Maybe they belong on some high end 70's race bike that I don't have and won't likely own. But there was a recent thread on the beauty of riding tubulars and these rims make me want to do so again. They're NOS to boot, never been glued.

An Ambrosio/Sunshine combo sounds peculiar to me. It's a mix of Italian and Japanese. There weren't really any reasons to make such a combo right out of the factory.

Mavic had the SSCs and the 'hard anodized' with the dark color stuff like the MA40,GP4 and the like. the ceramic was just a strip around the braking surface to increase braking action.
it is possible someone built them up. my first tubulars were 600 (or were they 105...) hubs with Ambrosio rims. I couldn't afford Mavic or Campi at the time so this was a good compromise
