Severely bent.

Picchio Special 06-12-11 05:48 PM

The fork is not bent in the least. The frame, on the other hand, is bent considerably away from the fork.

Fenway 06-12-11 05:48 PM

Severely bent

Beach Comber 06-12-11 05:58 PM

On the other hand, that rear brake cable routing is.......unique.

Spookeay Bird 06-12-11 06:01 PM

It's not bent, it's custom and unique caster. "No for real",,,, that's bad bent.

Capecodder 06-12-11 06:02 PM

Yikes:eek: That thing is looks like macaroni .......

Amesja 06-12-11 06:08 PM

One has to wonder how that thing steers at all. The fork legs are straight into the crown but the steerer tube has about a 15-degree bend in it ABOVE the crown race. If the head tube isn't egged out around the twisted bottom cup it would be a miracle.

3speed 06-12-11 06:14 PM

Yeah, I think that one could use a straightening at the very least. May well need new fork. On the plus side, as long as it's still straight, you can probably straighten it yourself.

 A little bit, yeah...

Spookeay Bird 06-12-11 06:22 PM

That's a tall bike for sure.

I agree 100% and from the looks of the stem I bet the steerer is bent too. I do hope LgReno is not serious about this and just trying to be amusing.

sloar 06-12-11 06:34 PM

you gotta wonder what happened, my bianchi looked just like that before i fixed it.

randyjawa 06-12-11 06:47 PM

I have straightened out several forks and would not touch that one. The bend is too close to the top and likely in the steering tube to crown fit. I would be fearful that the brazed or silver soldered joint will have been compromised. Were I the owner, I would pitch that fork immediately, and destroy what is left of it so that no one else could make the mistake of using it.

But that is just me.

JReade 06-12-11 06:58 PM

FD is little high up the seat tube, if you ask me.

Gary Fountain 06-12-11 07:03 PM

I saw a film once (yes we have moving pictures in Australia) where a guy had a fork turned 180 degrees in a frame. he ran next to the bike and pushed it off down a road (without a rider). The bike tracked true and eventually ran off the side of the road some distance away. It just showed how stable a bike would be if the rake ran behind centre.

I wonder it the "designer" of this front fork saw that film too?

nlerner 06-12-11 07:07 PM

Isn't that known as the "criterium bend"?

thanks all you guys!
CASE CLOSED...

background info:
a seller in montreal CL wants a big 170bucks for this bike (a little steep anways to begin with, especially given his add saying its "all tuned up" but check out that lame cableing work. I did give him cred. for cleaning it up nice tho, ahah lol). So anywyas I wrote him a cordial email saying he might draw bad attention with a bent fork like that. he replied with really pissy emails calling names and all... saying I knew nothing about bikes and that he own a bike shop etc...etc...and that i criticised his bike and to prove him that its bent blah blah blah .... (actually sent me that high res photo along with 4 others..)

So i replied and said that he was just a angry grumpy man....and that i never said it was "broken". I actually said from the looks of it, based on the pics... the fork looks bent and that its generally seen as something dangerous to ride a bike like that... and that unless he didnt know about it himself he could get bad attention from it. I simply suggested to revise his add. Nicely...

So now case closed... hes just being a ******bagette.

Reno

Pull the fork, better idea of what has happened. Either way, somethings got to be done.

Beach Comber 06-12-11 08:12 PM

Yea - I see bent fork bikes all the time in the Philly and NYC CLs. And even when its brought to their attention, they deny and continue to sell. Lowlifes.

realestvin7 06-13-11 12:31 AM

That bike is lame anyway. Move along to bigger and better things.

Gary Fountain 06-13-11 07:07 AM

Some people just make you scratch your head. "CASE CLOSED" is the best attitude.

Thanks for posting the photo though - it as fun.

sounds like one of those people you give extra room to when you pass them on the sidewalk.
