Vintage weekend (long winded old guy)

What a great weekend! Met up with junk yard bike yesterday after some mechanical difficulty which is a story in itself, I rode up Harmony Brass Castle rd to intersect JYB coming from his area on Saturday and as I was decending the other side I hear a sound like a rock bouncing off my Grand Touring, thought nothing of it until I hit the brakes about a minute later and found that the noise was my rt front brake pad leaving the Motobecane for a better place. Got it stopped with the rear and called JYB and told him I needed to head home to fix it. Climbed back up the down side of Harmony Brass Castle and decended the hill I just climbed with no front brake. Got home replaced the AWOL pad and went back out to hook up with JYB. Met him near the bottom of Harmony Brass Castle (Thankfully) had some refreshments and went off in search of Fiddlers Elbow. JYB conquered the beast bottom to top sat in the saddle and spun up. I with higher gearing stopped to catch my breath once then packed it in at the wall, I need to put the 32 on the back instead of the 28. Once at the top JYB needed to head back for fathers day obligations and I called another friend who was at the bottom of Harmony Brass Castle and coming up towards me. I rode down and met him and rode up again then we did another 15 or so. Today I aired out the Paramount on my usual Sunday ride and met up with my friend again and took the hilly way home for a total of 42 followed by adult beverages. All in all not a bad weekend.

It was just a Weinmann pad and I hate the extra weight of carrying tools otherwise I could have put a rear pad in the frt and been fine

Ha! I was actually half looking for it, but descending Harmony Brass Castle on the western side of the ridge is fast! svt4cam's climb up Harmony Brass Caste was 800 feet x 2 + 600 feet of Fiddler's (12% average grade, the wall is 20% grade!) = 2200 feet of climbing all within a 5 mile range. Not bad svt4cam!

Great meeting you and hope we can ride again soon!

+1 I have a bit of road nearby that I call "The Wall" ... about 15% grade but only 75 yards or so. It looks like a wall as you approach it though!

Had a great time riding with you too. Hopefully we can try this again when time isn't an issue and we can all ride in the same direction.
