Value? Very cool and desirable old frame. A beauty. Good for the senses and the soul.
Monetary worth? Unknown, sorry. But if I were in the market for that frame I'd pay four hundred bucks. best guess.

i'd say the price they were asking seems to be in line with what i've seen them go for. It might have even been a little low given the color, condition and year.

Well, I guess not low enough given that the auction ended with no bidders.

i dont really agree. I mean, sure it didnt sell, but I'd be willing to bet if the seller listed it at a 99 center starting bid with no reserve he would have received close to his want. No one is going to do a buy it now for that high on something like that and at that price. They want an auction, so give them one. There is no emotion from the bidders when you set it up they way he did.

You're probably right. Setting it up with a high starting price, just a bit below the BIN invites a rational response. Setting it up with a .99 start with that same BIN invites a bidding war. I suppose he could have even put a reserve on it though those tend to dampen the competition.

Hardly. Someone willing to pay that price would have sniped for the opening bid.

You paid right. Congrats. Neat frame. Tried the Classic Lightweights.UK web site? Or maybe Bulgier.net ?

meh, its worth what people will pay, and people will often pay more in an auction set up right I've seen several higher dollar items now not sell with a high buy it now and then when someone either broke the BUY it now by bidding or it was relisted, it sold higher!

in any event, enjoy the bike!

It was completely original. Campy Pista galore.

If you want to get an idea, look at his completed listings.

And now it's not anymore. What a damned shame. That we can get more for a bike parted out than whole. Yet another early seventies bike that will never be original and whole again, unless someone goes to great lengths to source all the proper bits.

Tragedy.

On the scale of hacking braze-ons off of a frame or parting out a hard-to-find original bike, I have to say that the latter disturbs me far more. And it's much more common among the C&V cognoscenti.
