Cotton bar wrap w/ padding

While on my long weekend, I visited a very cool bike shop near Blueball Pa (yes, it's a real town!) and whilst browsing the bar wrap section, I found silicon padded cotton bar wrap. I've been wanting to try cotton wrap for a long time but the lack of padding turned me off. When I got home, I wrapped the bars of my International and promptly went for a 25 mile ride covering everything from road, rail trails and some mild single track. I have no complaints from the numbness aspect at all. It replaced very old faux leather wrap that was on the bike and that left me tingling after about 10-15 miles on road. I need to rewrap the top section and then I'll take some pictures, it looks and feels great!

Only problem, I forget the brand name. I sent Zaph a picture of the box but I threw the package out and deleted the picture by mistake.... Oh well

Silicon doesn't sound very comfy, silicone on the other hand, does.

This thread reminds me, I have a few rolls of silicone tape (not the bike specific stuff,) I might try a layer under cloth on my Super Course this week...

Blueball Pa is just down the road from Climax Pa isn't it? Used to have to go through Blueball to get to Climax. Oddly enough PA appears to be so good, there are two Climax's, which would make it a double Climax State. Those PA Dutch got such a dry sense of humor

Interesting idea... the silicone tape, that is. That stuff they sell to wrap tool handles would probably be just the ticket.

I've used cork tape on my Trek and was considering replacement due to the age/fading. Dont know if you've ever tried that but it's quite thick with a good cushion effect without losing firmness and feel of control.

I forget the name but I just used a killer cotton bar tape with the silicone backing myself on my Centurion, my boss said it was a new product he just got in and I really like it. I am getting it in blue for my wife's bike and will use it on all of my road drop bars. I always liked cotton wrap and this does add the padding that feels just right to me.

Glenn
EDIT the stuff I used was from Rav-X and I think it was Cotton Gel or something like that.

Thanks Dan! Yeah that's the stuff I'm using. I've used cork barwrap on other bikes but I really wanted to use cotton on this bike.
