Eddy Merckx flea market find!
Bought a Eddy Merckx Bike at a fleamarket yesterday. Approx 56 cms, full campy (apart from a black EM stem) and a rear rim.
It is all red with chrome fork and chrome both seat and chain stays. Stopping 5cms behind the BB on the chainstays and all yhe way tu the top on the seatstays.
Crappy bottlecage.
Got a P and a Z on the bottombracket so 1985? Pix later, going to ride it first.
Oh, and I forgot to say: £20

Guys selling at flea markets near me know what stuff is worth and generally charge craigslist pricing. They research and have surprisingly wide areas of knowledge.

This is a real fleamarket. Non profit gang trying to keep an old house that was used for meetings and theater alive, spending the money they get from the flea markets to renovate the house.
Last year I arrived early and learnt that some of the (really ) old guys started selling 10-15 minutes before the opening. This year I decided to be there early but also I offered to take some stuff for a car free friend to the fleamarket two nights before it started. Did this mainly to be able to take a peak under the tarp where they keep the bikes. Found it all but also found this bike just standing by the door, somebody had just left it there. I stared and stared. Did a quick measure to decide the approx size and left. Went STRAIGHT for the bikes 10 min early on the day, asked casually what are the price of the bikes (did not want to point it out). It was standing partly backed into a hedge, looking fragile and small. He said £20 and I could not pay fast enough. Leaving with the bike I met somebody who was supprised I bought it already, he offered me £30.. I think he had to say £300 at least to get it

I may be a worry wart, but I would check the extention on that stem.
Looks a little close to the "line" and that could be a hazard.
@op, I am sure you have already done this, but it never hurts to give a new acquisition a once over for safety items.

. I did that after I had to teke the seat up at least 6 cms. I was going to ask what to do about stem. This one is at least 3-4 cms to low, I am not used to drops. Was thinking of using a quill to ahead "converter" to dial in the position I want since I have much more ahead stems than quill stems lying around. I guess when I know what I want I`ll ask again.Just back from a short ride. Rode in high heels just to celebrate the bike find
. Now I need to do the BB and other bearrings before I ride some more.Thank you Bianch girl for better pix, I am lazy with pictures these days. I`ll try to do some closeups in the next few days.

If it didn't have all that chrome I would think, oh nice bike. But with all that beautiful chrome, I'm green with envy.

. I just need to adapt! New rule is N+2, one folder one high end lightweight. Had decided to try some faster riding without luggage, dog or other heavy ancors (BF kept up with us last night on his BPR6. My son riding his Miyata912 that I grabbed from a dumpster a few yrs ago).
