You must be from Detroit too. (Who else calls a S/N a "vin"?)

Bent fork? Top and top tubes buckled by the head tube? Wheels in good shape? Tires in good shape? What type of derailleurs? The Grand Prix came with decent SunTour components in the late '70s.

Older Grand Prix's were entry level. Steel rims, cottered crank, claw derailleur hanger, high ten steel frame. Its pretty obvious.

Google is your friend, Raleigh made millions of them, lots of info out there.

....
True, but they were still pretty nice and IMO worthwhile upgrading to alloy rims.
- Not in the same class as a Super Course, but these were still considered lightweights back then (when your Schwinn weighed 40lbs)

Here's my white '73 - with a replacement fork and alloy rims.

If the paint is good and you have the ability to do the work, what do you have to lose, for $20?

He's right.... they're junk. That's why I'm still riding mine 3 decades later. That one's prettier than mine. Why alloy rims? Just skip a few meals instead.

Certainly not junk, they may not be rare high end bikes but they're still classics and they ride wonderfully and they look great.

Here's one I did not long ago,

Lowlux, you should've mentioned you were a fellow BF'er. I would've lowered my price to a good six pack. We probably would've finished it before you left.

I agree, if the bike has been crashed and you are looking for a bike to ride, skip it altogether.
