Oh yea ... Japanese, early '70's .... It's popular with people doing Fuji restorations on models such as the Newest and Finest. At one point I remembered the story behind it's name. Think early Sugino. Nice seat post, especially without the ZZZZ.

Are they anything special? Google has coughed up nothing but a mention of one in a Japanese bike blog.

Sure, they seem to be copies of the Campagnolo two bolt seat post, if they were indeed the first. You see a lot of them in 26.8, the 26.6 seems to be harder to find in good condition.

A good post, lasts forever, confuses most with it's name. I need to find that story on it's history.

Six of my Japanese bikes have them.

It's coming back to me .. they're also know as the "Hupel Rider".

They were made by Y.F.C ... who was Y.F.C? Got me, maybe someone knows. I'e seen the Y.F.C attached to the Fuji Saddle Mfg. Co. name as well.

Not to be confused by Y.C.F. (and I was) seen on the drop-outs of early Japanese Fujis. That stands for "Yuko Cold Forged"

Hopefully others have more info.

Orange bike for the win, Scott!

What do you do with that? Carry bitters and booze in a backpack and start tending bar on the side of the road when the feeling hits you?

This is a picture of one on my 73 World Voyageur. I've thought it was original, but I don't really know.

I just called my LBS guy who has owned two 1973 World Voyageurs and he confirmed both had these seatposts.

Thanks Justin, that shaker makes the best water bottle! I picked it up on the free section of a local church yard sale. It fits the cage perfectly and doesn't leak.
