help w CNJ to new hope, PA route...

hey folks - looking to map out a ride from monroe nj (central jersey) to new hope PA - i am looking to include roads that are bike friendly / scenic, etc

any roads i should be sure to include?

i am looking to make it a 50+ mile route as my buddy and i are wanting to do our first century (it'll be an out and back)

(we just did a monroe to asbury to sandy hook back to monroe 90 miler last weekend and we def want to hit that century mark but i want a ride with new views and a nice destination point - which new hope def is)

thanks in advance

will do - i would like to initially head north / north west and then approach with a west or south west approach - obviously - rolling country / backroad stuff is what we want - want to avoid as much highway as possible

And I was going to suggest the NJ Turnpike. Guess that's out.

Marley, why don't you pm me your starting point. I don't know where 'monroe nj' is. But I'm pretty sure I can help out, at least for the part of the ride closer to New Hope. How do you feel about hills, and how do you feel about unpaved surfaces, like the D&R canal towpath?

Edit:
Hold on, is Monroe near Cranbury? If so, I can definitely help out. I've ridden to Cranbury, and I've ridden to New Hope. Can you handle getting to Cranbury? When is this ride planned?

okay, here's a 77 mile route from Cranbury to New Hope and back by a different route. This passes my house in Lawrenceville. I have ridden this route to Cranbury from there, and it's the best I can suggest for that. From there to New Hope is a pretty easy and direct route, though perhaps a bit busy. From New Hope east to Neshanic Station and Harlingen, I've ridden that many times, and it's a very nice route. From Kingston back to Cranbury, I had to wing it entirely; have not ridden that road and have no idea how good it is. Let me know what you think, I can try again! --R

best source I've found for planning rides in NJ and parts of eastern PA: https://www.njbikemap.com/

be warned: I always check my route against something like Google maps, because sometimes the cartography on njbikemap isn't always perfect (but if you bring the maps along with you, they're good enough that if you get misdirected they'll easily put you back on track).

rhm is another good source!
