Help me pick a bike color!
Ok, the new SS will have the following:
Black saddle.
Black bar tape.
Black housings.
Brown anodized Matrix ISO-CII rims.
Tanwall tubular tires.
With that combo (stuff that is on hand) any color tweak you more than another?

A not-too-blingy metalflake root-beer brown with a good deep clearcoat on top. Wouldn't clash with anything, and complements (if not strikingly so) the color palette you have to work with.
Um. Are you going to go with powdercoat or paint? If paint, do you have a paint guy? Because we've got one ("we" meaning The Shop That Dare Not Speak Its Name) who does absolutely *fantastic* work. Seriously, he's about 99 44/100ths as good as Kvale. At about half Kvale's price.

High on the list already...
Funny you should mention a metallic brown, the frame is a 1984 Team Fuji frame who's stock color was, oddly, metallic brown, like this:
The Shop That Dare Not Speak Its Name? Any relation to this?
What's the reference? No Googling!

Actually it was an Oscar Wilde reference-- because since I'm not paying for advert space on the forum, I feel it's exceptionally bad form for me to try to advertise the shop here. Ya folla? And if there was one thing that Tom Cruise warned me about over and over, it was to never drop names!
Thank you, thank you; nine shows a week. Try the veal, and tip the waitress!
I had in mind a shade of brown with a little more red and a little less grey in it. Hard to describe-- but think of a 1974 Glastron Carlson and you will know exactly the shade I mean. Just with less metalflake.

and the color of my early 80's Pinarello, to which others bow.

Hard to beat a pearl white.
I would add a little more "pearl" to the mix than others.
I have two of Kvale's bikes, and the paint is outstanding on both.
Chris Kvale is the painter to beat, no doubt in my mind.
Dave Anderson's work in his shop is also outstanding.
To CB,
Price does count as well, so this fellow you have sounds interesting.
Any relation to House of Kolor?
I have a project coming up this fall that will require paint. Can you mention his name or should I stop by your shop?

There was a time I considered building this bike with black saddle and black hoods. I the color combinations would be pretty hot.
Then again, I'm kind of partial to that bike.

I'm surprised that you're not going the factory approach.
I like a simple non-metallic battleship gray.

Alrighty...I'm liking the idea of orange. wtgrantham, orange pearl is yummy too
How about a really far reaching homage to Merckx's Molteni orange Corsa:
Just a switch to white bar tape? I kinda like the idea. Thoughts?

The homage theme to "The Cannibal" was done in the most correct way by our very own Buldogge.
His Meech custom CX is one of my favorite theme bikes in recent memory.
I won't link to it in your thread, but you might want to take a look on the Meech blog.
She's a doozy.
