I like the story (and the bike).
The America's most wanted bit seems over the top, but I want to believe it. |

Thanks for the compliments. - And BTW, you can trust in the veracity my story -as much as his anyway ... http://www.cartermuseum.org/sites/al.../1970-43_0.jpg |

Auchen is also, sorry gentlemen, the hands-down best writer on this site.
(better than me!) Someday I want to sit on your porch with a glass of spiked ice tea and listen to you tell tall tales while the fireflies circle around and the neighbor's air conditioner cuts in and out. I expect you to wear a long white beard and start everything with: "Back when I was a boy..." no matter how old you actually are. And every now and then, you have to stand up and threaten some kid walking across your grass by brandishing an unloaded shotgun and yelling "get offa my lawn, whipersnappers! Now, where was I... oh yeah, back in Ought-Six, when I first saw the Raleigh, you couldn't get bikes like that unless you were running drugs, sleeping with a mob wife, or selling bootleg whisky. I was doing a little bit of all three..." |
Is this thread still active? I was just given a very clean 37 or 38 Golden Arrow. I certainly plan to clean it up but hate to ruin the character with fresh paint. I would like to find replacement celluloid fenders as these are damaged. Bike was apparently ridden in London during WWII and shipped back to US after the war.
