Matching Masters make me mighty merry

Just picked up this super clean 1991 Centurion Diamondback Master TG for $200.. paint job is the same as my 1989 Ironman Master, but different decals

bike is much too small for me but is just as light as my 1989. 105 instead of 600 components though. Frame still made in Japan which surprised me.. i assumed WSI moved production over to Taiwan when the switched to the DB name. the biggest downside i see is the tig welded oversize tubes don't look as sexy as lugged skinnier tubes, but thats really an aesthetic thing. the graphics aren't quite as cool as the 1989 graphics either imo

and it seems in 1991 WSI was a little schizophrenic about their brand name, with both DB and Centurion on the bike they should have kept their road bikes under the centurion name, but i guess since they reduced the line to 4 road bikes it didnt make much sense to market them separately from their mtb offerings.

you can't see it but my saddle has neon green on it too.. kinda wish it were plain black so i could swap with the white saddle on the Master TG which is more "period correct"..

Very nice....I actually like the paint job. Although, I agree, all those names on it is kind of overkill, imo.....Avenir, Centurion, Diamond Back.......after all is said and done, not much room for anything else but the labels....certainly they could have fit in a few more labels on the seat tube.....

yeah i'm not even sure what was originally Avenir on the bike.. all i can find is the waterbottle cage. maybe the original saddle was avenir too?

i really want to keep the saddle but i dont have anything i can replace it with..

the angles on the Master TG look slacker than on the Ironman Master.. i think RobbieTunes said that the Master TG geometry isn't based on the Ironman but the LeMans or something

Looks great. That 105-1055 stuff works great. Pretty similar to 600.

Hey Franktik,

Nice bike. you're right about how similar the paint schemes are.

You should try shooting the pictures at a different time of day. The shadows in the pictures take away focus on the bike. Try shooting at dusk or dawn..
