126 mm Rear Hub
I'd like to buy a good Shimano rear hub in 126 mm width for a 36 spoke wheel. What should I look for? I got a hold of a cool one once from Harris Cycle that took a cassette but they don't sell them anymore. I'm looking for a freehub, not a freewheel.

I bought some early Deore XT hubsets, the 730 series, NOS when they were cheap a couple years ago, like $35 for a set; now they're more like $100. They're quite nice, but come with Uniglide freehubs, which is a pain, as I've discovered, unless you have a newer Hyperglide donor hub for the freehub body, right rear cone and seal assembly. The later Deore stuff looks klunky to me. Maybe an Ultegra rear, made for Hyperglide, would be a better bet.

MF, 7S? You can get a 8-10S 130 mm rear hub and install a 4.5 mm spacer. Other than a slightly tight R&R a 130 mm hub works fine on a bike with 126 mm spacing.

Yea, I know that a 130mm can work but I don't need a 9 speed cassette. I may consider a top of the line freewheel hub.
