First century this past weekend --- on my old commuter/mountain bike

Did the Green Trails Cycling Classic (Greene County Ohio/Xenia) and completed my first century ride ever. It took me a few minutes less than forever as I pushed through on my early 90's Raleigh M60 commuter bike. Can't wait to do another one, but on a lighter bike next time.

And nice work!

That's one more than I've ever done. Congrats.

Well done! Congrats to you. A long day on the bike does make one appreciate a lighter-weight build.

Wow. That's a lot of miles on any bike in one go, but on an old commuter MTB! Well done, sir!

Oh how fun. Well done.
.
Reminds me of my youth when I did the Marin Century on an old JC Higgins stingray style bike that i'd converted into a 3 speed.... for the first and last time.

Congrats!

It gives me even more incentive to move that feat up further on my "bucket list".

Just found this thread......congrats on the century and especially with a bike not necessarily designed for long rides. Wow, you have my respect. I just rode a first century on my Trek 460 this past monday, all good pavement and flats and with a bike that is relatively light and quick. Hope you've got out there with something lighter since your milestone ride. Good job.

On a route that has a lot of hills, I can see the attraction of a lighter bike, but I would rather have a heavier bike that is comfortable all day, than a light one that is a pain after a couple of hours. A Mountain Bike is just out of its element on a century, though.
Congratulations on your first century and may you have many more.

Congrats, remember it's the man, not the bike. But everybody likes to shave a little wieght, me around the middle.
