My first eddy Merckx-ish frame.....
 

ok i need help identifying this bad boy. With the help of this wonderful MB i believe this will happen.

I drove pretty far to get this, unfortunately it's just the frame that's Eddy M, the fork is not original and the parts are super mishmash or parts, anyways i tried to throw a 27.2 seatpost into the seat tube it seamed to kinda fit, it went down a bit and got stiff so i figure it's the right size, just gotta through some grease on the tube.

Anyways campy drop out, campy downtube levers with red paint in them, half of a campagnolo headset mixed with some junk, cinelli track bar, SR stem, Suntour rear derailleur, campy veloce front derailleur, Shimano aero mighty cranks, the wheels are actually nice, mavic rim on the front with shimano hub and the back had a nice rim too i can't remember but i'll probably use them on somthing else but the tires match!! haha man i'm surprised it didn't have any mountain bike or bmx parts on there?!? :lol:

ok on the bottom bracket there's these numbers and letters when you look at the bike upside down, on the left hand side of the BB (driveside) i see the letter "M" then about 1 cm down i see the number "8". In the center off to the right (none drive side) i see the number 6205 then about 5mm over i see the letter E.

also i gotta replace this god forbidden fork, i need a columbus chrome fork or so, with 20 cm of steer tube, anyone got a nice fork for this laying around in their parts bin?

8 = 58cm frame. M = Strada. Over the BB cable routing = early 80's.

Nice, the colour is great. I think that Stradas took 27.0 posts, but I might just be mis-remembering.

ya, got the bike for about 100 bucks, but it does need A LOT of work.

Cromor. Later models were made with Strada tubing, "special" tubes designed for Merckx and then Brain during the nivachrom era. By the time they were using Brain, it had been renamed to Strada OS. Stradas were the low end entry for Merckx.

Definately not a "Merckx-ish" frame but a real Merckx frame. Dr. Cannondale is right - along with brake bridge, and chainstay bridge points to pre 85 or so. Great find.

wow thanks alot for those pictures! i'm still confused on what type of tubing this frame was, it's a Strada they said but did they have frame stickers on them? the one in your link didn't have any.

excavations, sorry: Eddy Merckx early 1983, Columbus SL/SP - M is the designation of an EMC employee (83-86), Strada appears at the turn of 86/87 and the designation M is derived from Columbus Matrix (before they renamed him Cromor).
